It depends on your company and location. If I wear a hat, I try to take it off during meals, if the resturant is nice, usually sit down places, not McDonalds, even if I eat there. If there is a waiter/waitress, take it off. I also take my hat (if wearing one) at the Alamo. Two reasons, one, it's respectful, two they make you
To address the hat hair question, if you put on a hat instead of fixing you hair, you know the results, so live with it. I went through high school wearing hats and having hat hair. I solved the hat hair problem a few months ago, and I recommend it, especially for balding men (let it go guys, they're not coming back, so don't even try a comb over), shave it all off! Either shave it with clippers with no guard, or a #1 guard, or go with a razor. I used to go with clippers, but then shaved it one day. Keeps me cool in the summer, colder in the winter, but I don't worry about hair care products

(note I am fully capable of growing a full head of thick beautiful hair, I went the bald by choice route because I hated dealing with my hair in the morning)
