Hello...I was driving home this evening and I noticed a few people in my neighborhood still have their outdoor Christmas lights on. Not that I care they are still pretty. But it got me wondering "how long is too long"?
We took ours down this weekend because the weather was nice. We try to do it ASAP - we also live in a community that requires they be down by the end of the month. It's not a big deal for me as far as others leaving them up - I know many people like to leave them up and on through the 6th - although it not a religious practice for me - I just like the idea for some reason. Glad to hear I am not the only one who still has to take down the inside stuff!
lights ? How about Christmas Tree ? I am so embarrassed. We have two trees that we put up for Christmas. The "family" tree and the 15 ft tree that goes in our formal living room. This tree is not pre-lit and comes branch-by-branch....very tedious to put up. In fact, it takes several hours to do so and usually we are not done decorating it until the next day.
so, as the average American family we are extremely busy at holiday time...we own three businesses between the two of us and have two very active children.
And, yes the 15 ft tree is still up and decorated. No, we don't light it anymore and we don't use the formal living room - much. Only when company comes and lately there hasn't been much company to speak of.
So I guess instead of being on the DIS boards i should be getting this tree down ?
But as i don't like heights and wont' get on a ladder the tree stands until DH is not too busy to help....?
Not at all !! - I still have one of my three up - again, the one in the dining room where you can shut the door and forget about it!! In my defense I was sick for the last week and have been getting to things - but slowly!
The first warm day after the first day of the new year (that was yesterday here). I still have all my Christmas stuff up inside though (the tree was down New Years Day-real tree, didn't hold needles well this year). I HOPE to get stuff down tomorrow. I also keep procrastinating about cleaning because I keep thinking I will just do it when I take the Christmas stuff down, but....
Lots of people around here still have them up this year because of the rain, but I haven't seen anyone turning them on since January 6th. We got ours down during a break in the rain on the 7th.
I have memories of visiting my Grandparents on spring break and going into their "living room" which they never used....there was the sad remains of a LIVE Christmas tree. Talk about a sad sight.
