When do you take your Christmas decorations down?

We took everything down on Sunday. DD was starting to pull the lights off of the tree. She was really good until Saturday then it was all over! :D

I go back to work (teaching) Jan. 2, so I took it all DOWN today--but I have a lot of Hallmark ornaments so they are sitting on my kitchen table--I have to sort and find the right boxes, etc.--it takes a while.

Up until 16 years ago I left everything up until Epiphany but that year I was very pregnant and didn't want to come home from the hospital to Christmas decorations. We took everything down NYD. DD wasn't due until January 11 but she decided she wanted to join us January 4. Since then everything is put away before her birthday. Got the house all cleaned up last Saturday and took down the outside stuff Monday when it was 50 degrees here and the snow had melted.

I just finished taking down the outside decorations. The inside will be done this afternoon. After that, it is just winter around here.:(

We took everything but the tree, Nativity, and outside lights down on Sunday. The tree is coming down today before my daycare children come back tommorrow, but my Nativity will stay up until the Epiphany. Our outside lights will stay up, but not on, until its safe to climb up on a ladder again.

Might take the outside ones down today. The rest this weekend, I hate this part!!:(

Little by little between today and this weekend.

When I will be warm doing it...i would have today, but its cold and rainy!

Mine are all down and put away, I can see my livingroom again!!!I would wait till January 6th but there's no point with my kids, they don't know the difference and it would be 6 more days of moving things in the living area.

We took most of our down on Monday. We live in every room in our house so the tree is in the way, but I do miss it!

We always left the tree up until we were tired of getting under it to plug it in. If the lights were plugged in more days of the week than not, we figured we still needed to see it.

Now I think it had to do with S.A.D.--Seasonal Affective Disorder--as I am now very aware of the fact that in the winter I turn on LIGHTS all over the house and light candles wherever I am sitting still for a while, for dinner, etc. In the spring I keep forgetting to light the candles. Must be a need for them in the winter.

One year we were under a lot of stres with some work related issues and the tree stayed up and lit daily until my Birthday--March 8. We lived in upstate New York at the time and winter is longer in the mountains too--so it was emotionally and physically darker that winter.

To each his or her own preference and need :)
Happy New Year,
Jan :earsgirl:

Our Christmas decorations come down on Twelfth Night (Jan. 6), not a day before.

My tree, on the other hand, stays up until Ash Wednesday (Mar. 5 this year). On Jan. 6, I switch over to Mardi Gras themed ornaments and they stay up until Ash Wednesday. We get a flocked tree so that the needles don't fall off.

I make sure ours is down prior to my son's Jan. 6 birthday. When he was young, I wanted to make sure we separated his birthday and Christmas. He gave me an excuse to get it down early. If it was left to only me to put everything away ( and usually is), Christmas would take a while to be put away. You see - I have a husband and two sons who LOVE to do nothing but watch football during the holidays - which they are doing AGAIN right now. Thank Goodness for Pete who started the DIS. He's saved my sanity!

My mom just asked me to round up my sisters and take the tree down. :( It is about the same time we always do it, but I am not ready this year!

Any time between the day after Christmas to New Years Day, depending on my mood and time. I hate putting the decorations away but its always so nice when its done. This year it was Dec. 30th.
