When do you start packing?

I'm 12 days out and started packing because I can't wait!!!!

I don't blame you! I actually start the "in the bag process" about 1 week prior, but I am such a crazy planner that I make lists of things to pack at least 2 months prior! Not just "shorts,underwear, tshirt" but actual outfits "white denim shorts, pink t shirt, Teva sandals" Oh yes, I do!! And then it all gets hi-lighted in yellow as it goes in the bag. for you! Have fun!

I'll start making my lists soon. At least every other day I think to myself "Oh I better not forget....". I'm going to have to make a list of the super important stuff this week so I can stop fretting about it.

The clothes and toiletries and such? I'll likely start the week leading up to the trip. I hate running around like a mad person the night before the trip. It's too stressful.

I actually worked on the kids packing list tonight for our trip.

I also have a small closet where I've tossing things as I think of them.... I'll probably start the actual packing at the beginning of May!!!

We leave in 17 days & I've packed 3 of us, 2 to go & they can do their own!! I haven't been this excited for vaca in a loooonnnnggg time!!!!!!

I usually pack the weekend before. Now my toiletry bag I keep packed. I go several times a year, so always clean out my toiletry bag as soon as I get back from a trip then immediately restock it and hang it back in the closet. When I get ready for my next trip, I just pull it out, roll it up, and stick it back in the suitcase.

Our packing list is normally ready a month before we travel. We will begin packing a week before we go.

It looks like I'm on the other end of this group. I pack the day before. When my boys were young, I might pack for them the day before that, but that was about it. Have I forgotten things? Oh yeah I have, but it's usually just fine. I plan a lot for the actual trip...ADRs 6 months out, best parks, spread sheet, but packing just isn't one of those things for me.

Packing list done a month prior, and then packing the weekend before. Then we compare the actual contents of the bag to what's on the list and head to the store to get what we are missing. Packing a week ahead gives plenty of time to get last minute items!

I am a planner so I start purchasing items for our shipping box 6 months before. That box is already triple checked, packed and ready to be shipped. I start to get outfits ready at the 4 month mark and hang them in the closet. This way when it's time to pack, all I have to do is take them off the hanger, roll them and place them in the suitcase. I pack the week before.

Sorry OP I have to say hi to Mousemommy1 I see you are staying at both the Poly & BC. Good for you. I bet you are excited.

We are 4 months out and I have a small box I toss things into that we won't need before we leave like poncho's etc. I have already began my lists so I can add to them as I go and grab things at the store when I am out rather then buy it all at once.

Hey!!! yes, I truly couldn't decide between the two, so we're going with both, 5 nights at each! I am very excited!!!

I'm a planner and I like to pack about a week in advance. We are leaving Saturday so my plan was to pack last weekend. However, with our temps being near 80 all week here, I had to scrap that. The kids will be wearing their shorts to school this week! I guess I'll be up late doing laundry Thursday and Friday night!

I make my list a few weeks ahead but the actual packing is done the night before the trip since our dog gets freaked out if he sees suitcases laying around. So I have learned to leave the packing until he has been safely delivered to the puppy hotel.

I am a big time packing procrastinator! For some reason I just dread the task so I put it off 'til the day before at the earliest. I do, however, start making a pretty detailed list about a week before and if I bought anything new for the trip that I'm not going to wear beforehand, I do put that stuff aside (have a little pile of a few shirts and a new pair of shorts already).

DH on the other hand LOVES to pack so he starts a whole week before.

We usually put the suitcases out a week in advance and start filling them as we go. Usually there is a kitty or two that end up sleeping in them overnight some nights. They are not zipped and totally full until the night before. It is nice to see a few cat hairs on your clothes when you are away. It makes you miss home and the four legged kids that love you.
