I booked my 3/2003 cruise a long time ago. It seemed real....sort of. The thing is, I always knew I could cancel and get a refund if needed. Yesterday I made my NON-refundable airline tickets and suddenly I am really really excited. Now I feel like I'm really going. Does that happen to you?

In August is when it really hit me. Of course I had my son' s wedding to contend with in July so that took precedence. Now we are just days away and I am out of my mind excited!!!!!!!

Ours is 4/2003 and while I'm excited, I don't think it's actually hit me yet-- I think the few weeks before when I'm buying the last minute stuff, it will finally be "real."

It never really hits me until the packing begins. Then I have nights when I have trouble sleeping because I am so excited about the cruise. Our first cruise was before I discovered the board. I read the board to pass the inbetween cruise time, which is usually a year. Kathy

For some reason, that one month mark seems to be the magic time for me. It's the time when I start finalizing all the paperwork (being a compulsive planner, I type up an agenda with the airline, towncar, and hotel ressie info. etc. and put it in an envelope that is also marked with another copy of the information as well as plane tickets etc., plus hubby and I each carry a spare copy...am I OCD or what?!). Once I start doing that, it feels real. And the week before each cruise FLIES by because I have to work really late on Mon. and Tues. so I can leave early on Weds. for our flight. That's the only time the beginning of the week ever flies by (well, except when we're on a 7-day cruise).

we did our airfare and paid for it back in march, but it didn't seem like a big deal then. Then we paid the balance in August, but it still didn't seem quite so real. Then our passports started trickling in one by one, and I was feeling like, ok it must be getting close now...maybe I should start making some packing lists?

But when our docs came the other day, it hit me real hard. At first, I felt a sense of panic and my stomach tightened. It wasn't until DD10 grabbed the docs and started dancing around with them that I calmed down and started laughing... WHOA! OUR FIRST CRUISE! WE ARE REALLY GOING!

When I am standing on deck 10 with a drink in my hand and they blow the Mickey horn. Thats when I know that I'm cruising.

The day the cruise docs came, definitely. But the true moment will be when we step onto thay beautiful ship. Then it will be truly real...:Pinkbounc
