When do you pay for the Disney Dining Plan?

I am planning to rent a studio to someone in February. My renter has said that she wants to get the Disney Dining Plan for her and her husband. My question is, when does one pay for the Disney Dining Plan? Also, how do I book the Disney Dining Plan for her? Can my renter just pay for the Dining Plan when she checks in, or do I need to book the plan in advance, and pay for it in advance, on her behalf?

Also if my renter wants to make dining reservations (or priority seating -- I forget what Disney calls it these days!), is the only way for me to call DVC member services for her? Or, is there some way for her to make the dining ressies directly, maybe by calling the dining number used by non-DVCers? (Is that WDW-DINE?)

I've stayed at the DVC numerous times, but generally do a lot of my own cooking due to dietary restrictions. So, I'm clueless about dining reservations and the Disney Dining Plan! Thanks for any information that you can give!

Your renter will pay for the dining plan when she checks in to her resort. However beforehand you will need to call MS to tell them the dining plan is wanted. No deposit is required, it is all paid for at one time at check-in. She can make her own dining reservations by calling WDW-DINE.

Great! Thank you very much!

Also let your renter know that everyone in the unit MUST be on the DDP. So if they have any others going, like a few kids, they will be required to pay for the plan also. And remember kids 10 and up, pay the adult price.

Yes you could book there ADR's thru MS.
