When do you pack????? (m)

We leave next Saturday (7am flight ). The plan is to bring the suitcases down from the attic this weekend, and to decide what we plan to bring, so we can make sure that whatever we want to pack isn't sitting in the hamper at 11:30pm on Friday. Anything that we won't need during the week, we will pre-pack this weekend, along with park-only items like ponchos, sunscreen, etc. Anything that we plan to wear during the week but want to bring with us will go into a special collapable hamper, so that we can do a load of laundry on Thursday night and know that all of those items are included. Final packing will happen Friday evening.

Of course, that's the plan. If we fall into old patterns, we will still be up doing laundry, packing, and cleaning the kitchen at 3am on Saturday morning, when are expecting the cab to pick us up at 5am....

Boy do I feel behind...We leave on Saturday to spend the night at in-laws who are closer to the airport. We head to Disney on Sunday and I haven't started packing. Just trying to decided what suitcases to bring. But I did buy a new backpack, new crocs (2 pairs actually), a new book (that I think I may finish before we leave), a new umbrella stroller, swim vest for my four year old son, new videos for the IPOD and new songs as well. I have to work until Friday. Will start packing on Friday evening and Saturday. But have been doing laundry and keeping the house clean all week. My DH will wait to the last minute to pack and then will pack his entire closet in the suitcase.

I read somewhere when packing always pack for four days. IF you are there longer you can always do laundry, if the trip is shorter then you have extra clothes. We are going to be in Florida for 10 days...Disney and then Boca. I plan to pack for five days and do laundry one day.

Can't wait, only four more days.

We usually start:
Anywhere from 2 days to a Week before.
I usually pack a week before because I have OCD and need to pack and re-pack stuff. I use a check list which I start about 1 week to 3 weeks a head of time before packing. Again my OCD kicks in.

I REALLY want to start packing! We leave in 5 weeks and its finally done being warm here so I at least want to start packing our swimsuits, summer clothes, etc. Jeans and long sleeves will have to wait.

We leave in four weeks, and I just officially started my packing yesterday.

We leave in less than 6 days.
I am going to pack like 60% of our stuff tomorrow.
We live outside Boston so it is only 40F here right now.
So we don't have any need for shorts or sandals.
Neither of us can take the 23rd off so we have to pack early.

Maybe I'm weird but I like to have new clothes before I go on vacation so I start buying them for my trips way ahead of time and put them in a special place in my closet(so I am not tempted to wear them early ).

When I buy something at the store that is for vacation I stick it straight in the suitcase when I get home. This might be ummmm, 8-9 months out of so...sometimes .
The only things I unpack when I get home are medications and clothes. Everything else stays packed for the next time.

Not weird at all - I do it too! Especially for DH. Too much of a pain to look through his clothes to find out what he has stains on since our last trip

LOL I do the exact same thing! I don't leave for a month and a half, but I've already got my special spot filled with new clothes.

I also put aside fun new toiletries as well. I'm terrible hehe!

Maybe it's a little OCD, but .....

We don't leave till Nov 14th, and I'm already packed..
And I have written down exactly whats in the bags...
I did buy several new shirts for all of us.. Washed them and straight into the suitcases...
The only things to add to the suitcase are the underwear, shoes, and shampoos and meds....

We leave two weeks from today and I am having to resist the urge to start packing so that we don't have to trip over suit cases for the next two weeks. Will probably start next week.
