When do you pack????? (m)

Okay- so I've made progress. I packed for my 2 youngest- they are the only two in the house with enough clothes that I can pack adn they still have enough to wear (it's going to be warm here the next 5 days). I also h ave put aside a bunch of stuff for the rest of us. I'll probably finish packing on Monday!!!

We leave WEDNESDAY!!!!!

having enough clothes is my problem. I have enough for the kids and they have been packed for weeks and I mean almost 8 weeks about I might re pack we are staying on site five nights and off site five nights so I might pack so I have disney clothes and non disney cloths this way I have less to un pack and repack when we switch hotels I have 42 days to go so i have plenty of time

The night before we leave, right before I go to bed - doesn't make much sense to pack before then

I also usually start packing about two weeks before any vacation. I USED to be a pro at the last minute thing, but since having my daughter, forget it. I end up missing key items for myself, like a toothbrush, coat, my wallet. . . I now have checklists that I go through, and since I'm the primary caregiver, I can only do so much in a day. :) This way I am able to do it at a casual pace, and have a chance to go through and see/think about what I could be missing, with time to go out and get those items if need be.

I keep checklists in excel on my computer, which I modify for each trip, depending on the season and what we're planning to do. I update the list & print it out about 2 weeks before hand. Then at a casual pace, I check to make sure there's nothing that needs to be purchased, refill the travel size toiletry bottles and try to get everything in the suitcase that's not clothing. Then about 1 week ahead, I check the weather forcast and start laying out the clothes, pressing anything that needs it, and double checking the list. It always seems the last week, I am super busy as work - so it works better for me to do at least some of the packing ahead of time. If I'm on schedule, 2 nights before we leave, I try to be about 90% done - that way I can finish up the last night and get a decent night's sleep. It doesn't always go that smoothly, but we try.

We still have a little ways to go--55 days--but I've already set aside items I want to take but don't need right now. I always pack the evening before we leave. We'll be carrying some Christmas decorations with us to decorate our room so I'll be packing those up just before Thanksgiving. I can't wait! :goodvibes

I have had DH & I's clothes packed since September. Last night I packed most everything else except for the things I can't pack until the day we're leaving (toothbrush, cell phone charger, etc.) If I don't pack early, I forget things. Our trip is the beginning of November.

I had to wonder at how so many people could already have their Disney clothes packed until I realized that they live further north than we do and their summer type clothing have already been stored! We will be wearing our summer clothes into November---maybe then I can start some packing!!!

I still have a long (too long) wait for our trip at the end of April but I have my "Disney" corner in my closet. When I find stuff on clearance, I'll buy some up and stick it in that corner. Like my Hubby found his kind of shorts he likes on sale for $3 each. Bought like 6 pair (enough for our trip). I also got some t-shirts when they were on sale at the disney site. I got some stuff I knew I wouldn't find around here by our trip like a lunchbox and beach towels. I'm also looking at all the buy one get one free sales. If I can get a free bottle of bodywash, I'll just throw the extra one in with the Disney stuff. One less thing to remember at the last minute.

That's pretty much what my mother and I did. Bought a bunch of stuff on clearance and made a pile (in MY closet! ). We are leaving Nov. 2nd and I have some stuff in zip lock baggies that I've bought this week (shampoo/body lotion/etc.) so I can figure out what else we need. I won't be able to put all my stuff in a suitcase till the day before due to my cats obession with suitcases!! Black suitcase plus white cat equals 30 minutes of me with a dyson sweeper!!:scared1: :scared1:

we leave in 9 days and I still haven't started packing:scared1: I work tonight and Monday so I will be down and out until Tuesday. I then have a PTO meeting after school on Tuesday so I can't officially start packing until Wednesday. I did purchase some toiletries and ponchos and a few other needed items, bought some disney shirts from the disney store. Thank goodness I bought them before the disney on ice blew thru, hot item. Husband says he needs to get some shorts:scared1: uhhhh its October, what was he thinking...oh that right he wasn't!!! anyways, I can't wait to go and am soooooo excited!

We leave on Wednesday (3 days!) and only my DD is packed! Three more people to go! I'm stressing a little about it because I usually like to be ready way before this! DH says not to worry, because we're "packed in the mind", meaning that we know everything last thing we're packing - we just need to throw it into a suitcase. Ha! Sounds so easy doesn't it? :scared:

We leave on Dec. 6th, so I'll start to pack around Thanksgiving, but I've been stashing stuff away in storage tubs until then. I'll pull that out this week and make an inventory to see what else I need to buy for our trip.

I leave this Friday and I will probably start tomorrow or Tuesday.

We are leaving in 13 days and will atart to pack this weekend because we have 11 of us going and want to make sure we have everything coordinated and enough room in the van to get to Milwaukee for our flight It is a 14 passenger van

Wow! You guys are all on the ball! I am usually a last minute packer (like up all night washing clothes before a trip). I am excited that I have DD and DS's clothes folded and ready to go. I still need to do a few finishing touches on my Halloween costume.

I cannot wait!

I leave Wednesday too!!! I have packed my two youngest kids but need to pack myself, DH and my oldest. Plus - we are having our living room painted while we are gone so I need to dismantle the room (pics off walls, everything out of curio, furniture into middle of room). Thank goodness DH is on vacation already - I'll be making him bust his butt the next two day!

well, today marks 49 days until we head out, and normally I have a nice long list going and half of it packed up....but with this new job and the looooooong hours and days and weeks.... I have two always taken items (mini first aid kit and sewing kit with extra safety pins) in the suitcase which is sitting in the basement but that is it! The suitcase hasn't even made it upstairs yet!

Plus this year I am at a loss going the first week of December. I have no idea what to expect weather-wise so I'm trying to get multiple possibility lists of clothing options going in my head so when I check the forecast I can grab items from each list. It just seems more unpredictable (just like Canadian weather...especially when you live smack in the middle of the Great Lakes!)
Who knows!? :upsidedow

we are leaving in less than a month and i still havent got everything ready. last year i had everything going and ready and this time, cant seem to get it all packed. this year we are flying so i have everyone with a carryon that i am personalizing with dis approp:thumbsup2 riate tagging ala hd.but i havent gotten anytthing else yet. maybe tomorrow will drag the bags out to look at what we have.
