I used to eat at 6 because that's when I ate growing up, but when I got over here in Jersey, my uncle made dinner for 8-ish. It wasn't so much that he had a preferred time. He would just procrastinate, and woe was you if you asked him what time dinner was going to be. When he was alive, we sometimes didn't eat until 9:30 or 10 p.m. When I became the cook I aimed for around 7:30 to try and please everyone. Now that I'm eating better and my one cousin has moved out with my Godson, my aunt just said to not cook and the rest of us will survive on our own. Fine by me-I make my own food and eat at 7 p.m. now.
