When do you decorate for the holidays?

I just got finished packing up my Halloween decorations and putting out my Thanksgiving decorations and I got to thinking when others did this. I know a lot of people don't decorate for all of the holidays though, so how about Christmas? When do you decorate and when do you put up your tree? Usually we put up our decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving or the 1st of December. This year we will be in Germany (mini meet with Poohshoney) so we probably won't decorate until the first week of December.

My DW puts up three trees every year. Two downstairs in our living room and rec room and one up stairs in the Family Room. This year she was feeling a little antsy and put two up on Saturday and plans on putting the other up this week.

Hey if she wants to get in the Holiday mood early who am I to argue...LOL

Have a Disney Day!

We are planning on putting up our tree the weekend before Thanksgiving. I have to work Thanksgiving weekend and since it's so late in the month this year, I don't want to wait!:D

I have Thanksgiving at my house, so I usually decorate for Thanksgiving, but because of working 2 jobs (one in retail), I usually don't have time to decorate for Christmas until Christmas Eve

We usually wait until my sons birthday (first week in December) to put up the tree.

We don't have outside decorations, so that ok.

We may move before Christmas (started looking for a house this week) so that may put all the things on hold.

Before Thanksgiving. I grew up that way!;) You always have your Christmas decorations up at Thanksgiving.

DH puts the Christmas lights up the week before Thanksgiving but we don't put our tree and things up til Thanksgiving weekend.

Tradition dictates that I go fight the mobs on the day after Thanksgiving, trying to get all the deals I can, then I come home and decorate.

I'd personally like to do it earlier, since Christmas decorations really give light to the house when light is hard to come by in the winter, but DH doesn't like them up any earlier than Thanksgiving.

I usually go out real early the day after Thanksgiving then come home and start the weekend long drama. I usually get all the stuff at least out of the boxes and the tree standing. Then I wait for Chris to come home to shape the tree LOL. Then it's the outside! Ya know - when one light goes out, they all go out!!!

Usually I put mine up the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year I have showers for my niece's that weekend, so I think we're going with the weekend before Thanksgiving. My DS will be thrilled, he is a decorating fool!!!;) I love having my tree up! It's always up by Dec. 1st and comes down after New Years. It's the UNDECORATING part that's not so fun!!!;)

We put the tree and all the inside decorations up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We keep an eye on the weather report - if it looks like a rainy Thanksgiving, then DH will do the outside lights the weekend before Thanksgiving; otherwise, he waits until Thanksgiving weekend. Even if the lights are up early, we don't turn them on until the day after Thanksgiving. It's my little protest - the stores start getting ready for Christmas right after Labor Day, so I wait until after Thanksgiving before I "light up". (I have, however, started my Christmas shopping; I'm not crazy enough to wait!)

We have always had real trees so I would do most of my decorating in Dec. However, we are considering an artificial since we will be in WDW for the week before Christmas. This is our first time going in Dec, and it may turnout to be an annual trip, who knows. Im planning on decorating before Thanksgiving.

Halloween is away. I dont do Thanksgiving decorations.
Christmas will go up the day after Thanksgivng and throughout that weekend. They will be down by Dec 26 or ASAP!

The tree goes up the day before Thanksgiving and lights go on. On Thanksgiving morning DH and the girls decorate the tree as I am preparing the meal. The rest of the Christmas decorations go up when we get back from our trip that usually follows right after Thanksgiving.

I go out shopping at 5 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving, I'm usually home by around 11:00, then I start decorating. My husband does all of the outside, and I start by putting up my 3 trees forst. I have a 12 ft. one on my foyer that takes forever, so I usually do that one first. Then the living room, and last but not least the basement tree.

My least favorite decorating job is putting up the Snow Village. We have big displays in 3 different rooms, and just thinking about having to do it again soon is giving me a headache!

Depends. I would love to have everything decorated by the Thanksgiving holiday, but lately it's been last minute, after my finals are over. :D

we have "fall decorations" that go up for halloween and stay up through thanksgiving. we start decorating for xmas the week after thanksgiving.

I normally bring the tree out and the Christmas knick-knacks on Thanksgiving weekend. (No outside decorations -whew!)

However, two weekends of Dec. are always reserved for us traveling to visit family and this year we leave for Disney on Thanksgiving weekend so....

DW tells me I am going up to the attic and setting everything up this weekend!

That has got to be the earliest I have ever done it, but she's been listening to Christmas music for two weeks anyway...
