when do you clear your vacation time at work?

Ok, it's official! I'm going to Disney next Friday!! Woohoo!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc My boss just wanted to know if he could come with me! And, told me to ride Haunted Mansion! :D

So, I just updated my packing lists, itinerary, and finalized all ps's. Now, I'm just hoping my Mom cheers up (she surprised me with this sudden trip, for my 2yo dd & I!) and my Grandmother gets better... :(

Usually about 3-4 months in advance unless it takes plane fare then as soon as I think about it :)

We have inventory usually in June so no vacations the month before- this year it got bumped to July the day before my trip (and if my other groups meet was the actual 17th- id have left the day of inventory) When I found that out I got my vacation approved that day (perk of always going the same week) so Id get it :)

I asked for my May trip off in January :) but I dont rest assured till it gets posted on the board 3 weeks before (which means itll go up this week!)

If I'm just taking a couple days, then a few weeks notice is needed. I gave a year notice for our big two week vacation to WDW next April:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We have to give our vacation requests in at least one month in advance. I tend to turn them in about 9 months in advance.
I'm on vacation now, I turned in this request back in June. I plan to stop by the center one day this week and turn in the request for Christmas.

All of the teachers, assistants and aides in our center get 30 vacation days. Lucky for me it's first come first serve other wise I'd never get the times I want. Most of the staff has been there 15-25 years. I've only been there 3 1/2 years.

We have a yearly calendar we use. It's first come first serve here too, and you just sign up for the days you want. We're supposed to give at least two weeks notice though, and no more than two secretaries can be out at the same time. We've never had a problem, except Christmas can be a little tricky to work out sometimes.

Like a few previous posters, I have to sign up for vacation in November for the next year. We go by seniority and have to take "blocked weeks". With 24 in my department, I'm in the middle of the seniority with 22 years. I'll never get Christmas vacation, it's always taken by the time I sign up.

I have 6 weeks this year. One was in Feb., one in May, one the end of June/begin of July, one in Sept. and 2 weeks in Dec. We went to WDW in Feb and we're going again in Dec.

I'm a part time contract worker for my former company. No paid vacation, so I take off whenever I want & tell them the week before.

nov 2003 asked for next nov 2004
usually 1 year notice for 1 week
