In Maryland they go back 3rd week of August. Our kids don't even get out of school until June 18th!

I just got DS' report card, summer reading list, and calendar for next year. Let's see...August 25 they get out at noon. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy do they do that? To intentionally drive the parents nuts?

I'm a teacher in England. We went to WDW the last two weeks of the summer holiday last year and the place was fairly quiet. Most days we just walked on to rides and made a lot of PS at restaurants the day before we ate there. The weather was a little off, we had rain and thunder most days but it was usually at about 6pm when we were back in the roo getting ready for our evening meal - we stayed on site at the Beach Club Villas.

Mon. August 30 Opening Day for Teachers & Buildings
Tues. August 31 Teacher Workday
Wed. September 1 First Day for Students
Fri. September 3 No School
Mon. September 6 Labor Day (No School)

What's up with Friday, September the 3rd?
Doesn't make too much sense...Why go back to school for two days on the 1st & 2nd...then not again till the 7th??
So you should be safe at the end of August....most schools are in, or at least parents and kiddies in New England will be school shopping then!

Our last day of school is June 25th and they go back the Wednesday after Labor Day in Sept.
I would a bit upset if they went back in August here since August is still such a nice hot month that my daughter and I still do a lot of water parks and beaches during the day....I'm in NO rus for her to get back to school thats for sure...I'm dreading September LOL!! Now she cansleep in every day, no homework to deal with...this is heaven!

DS gets out next Wed June 23rd

He goes back Sept 1st - and they most likely will have the Fri before Labor Day off as in the past

In Indiana, they go back at different times during the month of August. We go back on Aug. 18 but my neices go back the 1st and 2nd week of August. Even my little county can't decide on a uniform day to go back. I think they go back 4 or 5 different dates, anywhere from the 2nd week of August through Labor day.

Like mostly everyone up in NJ, and north, we go back the day or 2 after Labor Day. In 2002, our school district was doing construction, and the kids didn't go back until the second week in Sept. We went to WDW, and it was amazing how few (can that be possible?)people were there compared to during the summer. Most times we just walked on rides, and for the bigger ones, waited minimally. That is the time to go. THe time before we went in mid Nov during Teachers conferences. Of course I think everyone in NJ had the same idea, since everyone we met was from NJ. But not a bad thing, since it still was easy getting on/in stuff.

Our county goes back August 10 and the next county over starts on the 6th of August.

Here in Northeastern PA the kids go back on August 30. Last Friday (6/11) was their last day.

We get a fall break in Oct., which makes me think - I may start a thread to see how many DIS'ers get a fall break.

I'm wondering since they have made Oct. regular season whether it's because so many school systems are doing fall breaks now.

Go Back?!?!?! Please...I'm the bus driver lady and we didn't even get out yet. Our last day is this Friday, June 18th. Had a rough year with some of my younger elementary passengers (6 of my 51 passengers are ADHD). Love all the kids, but at this point I can't wait for my two month down-time. Will be recuperating at OKW Aug. 22-28th. Hoping the crowds aren't too bad. Our NJ school district starts back the 8th of September.

Our schools aren't finished till June 18th either....too many, hurricane, and snow and ice days! We go back on August 23rd, which makes for a really short summer.
