Here I sit, a 39 year old woman, crying this morning with real, actual tears b/c there's just no way for us to get to Disney World this year for Christmas. We always go with my inlaws, and this year my MIL is having eye surgery in early December, plus my husband is out of vacation days for the year. I was going to bust my rear on ebay selling to try and scrounge up the money, but b/c of the other two reasons, there's just no way to go.

So a friend had the idea that maybe we could go for NYE and start the year off right. Probably not financially possible, as I don't think there are any room discounts for then but just in case, when do they take down the holiday decorations?

Plus, I don't know how I would feel about going that close to Christmas and not being able to do a MVMCP. :(

If you get their past the 3rd or 4th of January, you may not see much. However, the Osborne Lights usually stay up a few days longer.

When we were there they started taking the decorations down around the 3rd but Osborne lights stays up till around the 7th.

We have been several times in the past and they are all down by the 7th. We went to bed at WL on 1/6 with full decorations and when we awoke on 1/7 the decorations fairies had come during the night and had taken them away!

this year, Osborne lights are up till the 2nd.

We're going to be there starting NYE and going to soak up all the decors they have before the 2nd.

We have seen the decors after Thanksgiving last year, but I still haven't seen some of the resort ones.

So sorry you won't be able to make it for the big holiday season. But the last time we went on January 3rd, there were still trees, wreaths, etc. hung up. It seemed to be about halfway removed. DTD was especially still decorated at that time.

We're hoping to get there at that same time this January.

Good luck with your planning!

last year the decorations were up until at least January 6th, because they were up the whole time we were there.

Last year the Boardwalk decorations were up until about the 12th or 13th !! We watched them take down the big tree in the courtyard.

The parks will probably clear out all the decorations prior to Marathon weekend which begins Friday, Jan 7. The hotels will follow shortly afterwards. Last year the WL took them all down late Sun evening/early Monday morning of Marathon weekend.
