We will be arriving 1/6 .. hoping that the XMas stuff is all taken down by then. We went there 5 years ago .. and it seems like it was almost mid-January before the stuff was removed. Dont get me wrong, I love XMas and the Holidays and all of the trimmings.. but after it is all over the last thing I want to see if a Christmas tree and hear Christmas music since it is all over.

Anyone know the schedule to get parks/resorts back to normal ambience?

I can't answer your question, but Christmas (the religious holiday) actually extends to January 6 (the "12th day" of Christmas) - which is the date that the visit of the three wise men is celebrated. That is the official end of the season, so leaving your decor up until then is not particularly unusual.

A lot of people think Christmas day itself is the "12th day" but that is not correct.

Our experience is that most of the holiday stuff is gone within the first week of January.

They take it down very, very fast. One year we were there for the holidays. We went to bed with Christmas at Disney. When morning came, there wasn't a trace. My daughter was a bit upset. She had put off taking pictures of some of the decorations.

I don't know about WDW, although I'd heard they start taking it down about now - the first of the year, but our home decorations will be staying up a bit longer than usual.

Normally I would take them down next weekend, but I turned my ankle at the beginning of December and tore the ligaments in my foot, so I'm in an air cast and can't really make it up and down the basement stairs to put all the decorations away. I've got just over 2 weeks left in this thing, so they won't be coming down until after MLK day.

Considering the Osborne lights will be running through January 7 and the castle dream lights through January 8, I would expect that those two parks may be the last to un-decorate. I would expect Epcot and AK to start earlier. But there may be some lingering decorations around through the first weekend in January.

It's a lot to put up, and it's a lot to take down.

However, I'm hoping it's up a little longer. Due to some timing issues with the family, we aren't getting together to celebrate Christmas until MLK weekend - so I have to stay in the holiday mood for another three weeks!
