When do the resorts take down the Christmas decorations?

They start coming down that weekend after NY, but some resorts are slower at it than others. I know we have sometimes seen the garlands on the lamposts at OKW sometimes still up in mid-January.

We usually leave the Saturday the week of NYs and they are typically all gone by the time we leave. So this cycle they probably will start on Jan 3rd and be done by the 5th. They are super fast taking them down. They will disappear over night at your resort. I usually try to catch them taking the GF Gingerbread house down and if i do i try to post it. Last year i caught them in the act. It does come down a little early in my opinion.

Have gone many times in early Jan. Except for January 2010, they have typically taken down hotel decorations Jan 4 or 5 (actually overnight between Jan 3 and 4 or Jan 4 and 5; you go to bed at night seeing the decorations and in the morning everything is gone) and then park decorations are taken down beginning a day after that (but those usually take a few days to finish). In January 2010 everything stayed up until mid-Jan. The stated reason was that it was too cold for the workers to take down the outside decorations so they left them all up (that was the year for which the first half of Jan was cold every day, highs in 40s to 50s with lows in 20s).

I love hearing things like this :rotfl2: It's too cold! I wish I could be a snowbird. Too bad I can't retire for about 35 more years :(

Can't wait to see the decorations 2014!

We were at Disney last year from Jan 1st thru Jan 9th. There were still lots of Christmas decorations at the resorts and the parks on Jan 8th. They were still playing Christmas music at the parks also - I only remember because we were tired of hearing it by the end of the week! The Osborne Lights were still up for part of our week, but the icicles on the castle in the MK came down pretty early - maybe the 3rd or so. Bottom line, not all of the Christmas decorations will be up, but there will should still be some the 1st week of January.
