We will be there November 18-22 and are hoping to see many of the Christmas decorations. I have heard that most are up by mid-November. I am hoping to see the lights of winter, Osborne lights and trees at several resorts. Anyone (especially any CM's) have any news for me?

Decorations used to go up the day after Thanksgiving, but they seem to go up earlier and earlier every year! I had a friend that went mid-November last year, and I know the decorations were already up because she was surprised to see them. She and I went again in early January for my birthday, and they were still up.

I know the Osborne lights at MGM start going up weeks in advance because it takes so long to get them all put up. But they aren't turned on until a specific day.

I hope that helps a little. :goodvibes

We were there November 5, 2004 and some of the resort decorations were already going up. We were very surprised and glad to see some of them. I don't know if this is the norm now or not. There still was nothing up in the parks yet, with the exception of the Osbourn Lights, which were up but not lite yet. I don't think they light them till right before or right after Thanksgiving.

I'm assuming the OP means the lights that are up and over the walkway from FutureLand to World Showcase at Epcot. I'm not completely sure, I know the resort decorations are up very early...but the lights in the parks I can't say for sure. They may not start them up until Thanksgiving...I know that's when they start the holiday shows...Thanksgiving night for the most part.

We were there this past Thanksgiving and EVERYTHING was lit up and decorated even at the beginning of the week. The only thing I'm not sure about is the Osborne Lights. We saw them that week but I can't remember how early/late in the week that it was. I'm almost positive that the park and resort decorations will be up while you are there. They are all absolutely beautiful! :goodvibes

Allearsnet.com has Nov. 13 as the start of Osborne Family Lights for this year.
The "Lights of Winter" is the canopy of lights over the walkway connecting Future World to World Showcase. I also noticed that the "Tree Lighting Ceremony" lasts approx. 10 min. FYI for those planning for CP dinner pkg.

We were there last year the week before Thanksgiving week and saw the Osborne lights so they definitely do get earlier and earlier. We even saw MK holiday fireworks preview twice that week and holiday parades in AK and MGM but not MK. Christmas decorations were everywhere last year that week. It's funny we went the same week the year before and not half the stuff was up. :cool1: The Osborne lights are definitely worth seeing if you can, very neat to see snow in Florida.

we stayed at the p.o. frech quarter 2 years ago and it was the last week of oct and the xmas lights were already up

I know the candelight processional starts Nov 24....but what about holidays around the world? If the decorations are up mid November will they start this too? Thank you! :)

Does anyone know when they take them back down? I hope they're still up when we get there!

I assume that these are on for the duration of Evening EMH at the Studios? (During December, of course). The official Disney calendar has them on from 6 - 7 the day we were planning to go, but that is an EMH evening.

We had dinner at the Calif. Grill last year on Nov. 4 and from the windows and observation area you could see a lit up Christmas tree in the Magic Kingdom! Some decorations were up along Main Street ALso, the lights were covering all of the MGM buildings but were not turned on.
