When do the kids go back to school?

Hey there Russell. We are in Canton, GA. We just recently moved from Woodstock. We also get the week off in Sept and plan to visit Disney. Can't wait.

Neat! Howdy neighbor! We've always gone around the end of October and took the kids out for a couple of days. Now they are older, it's too much schoolwork to make up so we are taking advantage of being off in September. I've talked with others here have done that and they said crowds were very small and the weather usually good. Let's hope for no hurricanes!

Here in Memphis, all my co-workers kids, both county and city schools, go back the first week in August. It seems like the summer vacation is getting shorter and shorter. I remember not going back until the very end of August when I was in school!

Dd starts kindergarten THURSDAY!!! She is very excited Mom well I 'll miss her lots - the Elementary schools here go year round so pre k- 5 start this week and 6-12 start Aug 15th (I think) I love the schedule the kids go for a quarter (about 9 weeks) and then have a 2 1/2- 3 week break. Our first cycle break starts Sept 22.

Georgia (Clayton County) - we get out of school the last week of May- The kids frist day of school here is August 8th-

we get:
** 2 days off for labor day (Monday/Tuesday)
** Fri Oct 20th, Mon 23rd and Tues 24th ( fall break)
** Thanksgiving week off
** Dec 25th through January 9th off (for winter holidays)
** Jan 15th MLK day
** Pres week in Feb
** the first week of April (spring break)
** Schools out June 1st!

The kids go back on Aug. 23. They have off 9/22 which is when were heading to WDW. They will miss a week of school .

August 3rd here---but with the free dining, I can't imagine that the crowds will be dropping by much, although I don't know when that officially starts? And then there's their new celebration/contest thing, MNSSHP, the Food & Wine stuff, etc.

I don't think there'll be much of a slow day at Disney for quite awhile.

In WI the children go back the Tuesday after Labor Day. I can't imagine going back Aug. 1 Summer is too short as it is!!

Yes, but those who START earlier also END earlier. Most southerners are done before May ends, in the north kids go well into June.

I would LOVE that, we had that for one year (a pilot program when we lived in Flordia!) Now we homeschool.

Don't think there is any really slow time at WDW anymore. The reason they offer free dining, ect., is to keep the crowds up. WDW is a business after all.....
