OK, I'm getting over (a little) my huge !!! disappointment that there will not be any holiday shows the first week of Dec. - I have been talking up "Whoville" and the Macy's parade to my little nephew for a year now !!!:(
Will there at least be some decorations up in the parks?

Anyone know why USF waits so late to begin celebrating?, I would think they'd want to attract those of us coming/going from WDW for the holiday season from Thanksgiving on.

I'll see what I can find out during the Thanksgiving weekend.

The reason why they are waiting this year is because in years past the first week has been extremely slow, so they cut 1 week to save $$$. I think some decorations will but up but not that many. Sorry to hear about your plans getting ruined.

They may be surprised this year and have more people. A lot of people postponed trips this summer because of the hurricanes. The parks have had a little more crowds this month than they had last year at this time. Maybe if crowds pick up, they might get those decorations up early. You can only hope.

Thanks you guys - I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks for keeping me updated, phamton - we may sneak over to MGM one night to see Osbourne lights now (we can't fit it into our few days at WDW!). We're going to have a great time no matter what ! -this is such a special "aunties" trip that nothing could ruin it !!! The sis I'm coming with hasn't been to USF in almost 10 years and little DNeph never got to IOA in Aug - and he survived Charley in MCO airport (well, in the Hyatt) and they didn't let that ruin their time (shook them up a bit, though!!;) ) - I'm still feeling grateful that Fla is even functioning and the parks are open at all!!!:smooth:

Good news! Islands of Adventrue is already decorated for Christmas. All the Grinchmas decorations are out. Universal doesn't have any Christmas decorations out yet in the studios but some of the stores are decorated inside with Christmas trees, etc. I suspect everything will be all decked out by the time you get there.

Bev... I told you all of New York was decorated almost 100% finished. There are some more things that will be taken out but us in New York we are almost DONE! In the sound stages there are alot of Christmas Trees that look like they will be taken out very very soon... possible be out by tomarrow. You will be fine don't worry.

Oops sorry, Matt. I guess I didn't hear you. I was only in the MIB area today and didn't see any decorations. I never went over to the New York-Mummy area. Glad to hear that universal is also getting their decorations up.

Thanks ! - now I feel better !!!!! :jumping1:

Now if I can just find the 'movie' Grinch . . . . ! (want to get him to sign his book for my DNeph and have his pic taken w/him):smooth:

Are there any pictures of the Christmas decorations. i was also worried about this as we are going next weekend too.
Thanks!

All I can say is WOW, you made our first stay much brighter. We were disapointed after reading that their wouldn't be any Christmas decorations out while we are there. We are spending the first weekend in December at Universal RPH after being in Disney for 7 nights. Can't wait :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I am THRILLED to hear this!

Just bumping - how's it looking now ??! - put up some of my own lights already !! :smooth:

Both parks are decorated as is CityWalk. Chirstmas music is also being played in and around the parks.

I'm doing happy dance! I knew we were ok - we arrive 12/17- but still it's good to hear...

There is also Santa, and horse drawn carriage rides throughout Citywalk. There are also choirs singing and snow (what litle there is of it coming from the snow making machine) on Citywalk as well.

Oh, I can't wait!!!!
I will be there on Dec. 12th! :cheer2:

Does anyone know if you can take your own pictures of you kids w/ Santa, or do they only allow pictures if you are buying them from the professional photographer?

When we got there the handler said that we could take as much time as we wanted, and take as many pictures as we wanted. We took some of the kids together, separate pictures of the kids, and one with all four of us.
