Thinking of going to WDW during Thanksgiving break in '04. This would work out great school wise for the kids.

We've gone a couple of times, years ago in early December. I LOVE how the characters are dressed for the holidays and love the decorations. I'd love to go again at this time.... So if we went the week of Thanksgiving would the decorations be up? TIA

They may have some of the decorations up but I think they put the majority up the weekend after Thanksgiving Day.

This year Christmas decorations started going up Nov.12th at the Resorts.

The reality is that it takes Weeks to decorate the "World". We were at the BCV this year from 11/6-11/12 and the Yacht and Beach and Boardwalk areas were decorated! The trees were up in the lobbies and when we strolled the Boardwalk, it was Christmas carols we heard. The shops in Epcot were also beginning to put up their Christmas merchandise displays. I had an exact schedule, which DU sent to me, and I can look for it, it you wish. They decorated somewhere - every night - beginning in NOV.

Hopefully - would love a copy of the schedule if it isn't too much trouble.

Also anyone know when the characters start dressing for the holiday?

We were there from Nov. 15-25. As others have reported, the resorts start decorating early. Toward the end of the trip the decorations in the parks were up. We had heard that MK would be decorated after Thanksgiving from CMs but on our last morning, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Main Street was in all its Christmas finery. Since we weren't expecting that at all, it was special for us!

Of course, who knows what will happen next year, but that's part of the fun for me anyway!

I would expect though if you go in the second half of November you can count on some Christmas decorations anyway!

Sorry didn't notice any special costumes on the characters.

We went to Disney the week after Thanksgiving this past year (2003) and it was in all it's Christmas glory. Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party begins in November and that is the place to see all the characters dressed in their Christmas best. If you don't do anything else I really suggest you go to the party. We had a blast this year. You get free hot chocolate and cookies, a picture, and it even "snows" on main street. There are two Christmas parades and lots of shows. If you are able to attend I also suggest going during the week as it isn't quite as crowded. I would also buy tickets in advance just in case though. Hope this is some help to you.
