When do schools start in the south?

I might have a chance to head to WDW the beginning of Aug with my wife on a company trip. What should I expect for crowd level. I thought I read that the southern schools start around this time frame and the crowd level starts to shrink.

Aug. 25th for us. The NC General Assembly passed a law (recommended by the tourism industry) that schools have to start later. Some schools have an exemption due to excessive amounts of snow days.

July 27th is the first full day (a registration day) in our county in Middle Tennessee. Then it is full time every day starting Aug 1.

Holy cow! Do your kids not get any summer break? I thought Georgia was bad going back the second week of August.

In the Hampton Roads Area of Virginia; Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, the schools start the day after Labor Day.

I live in north Jersey. My DGDs get out of school on June 17. They go back the day after Labor Day. It has been this basic schedule my entire life. If your school goes back in early to mid August, when do you get out for the summer? I wonder why there is such a vast difference in summer vacation time?

In North Fulton county Georgia, school starts August 15. That's a week later than it has been for the last few years. This year, the kids get out May 20, next year it will be the Friday before Memorial Day.

And don't forget us Brits, there are a lot of us who come to visit. Our schools are out from roughly the third week in July to the beginning of September.

Dallas ISD returns August 15. Some of the surrounding districts go back even earlier. There was legislation pending to keep everyone out until after Labor Day, but from what I understand that proposal is dead.

Public schools here go back around the 15th but our privite school doesn't go back until the 29th. Summer is way too short!

Central FL... 8/8 is back to school... Christmas break from 12/16-1/4, Spring break from 3/17-3/26, and done for the year on 5/24.
