When do schools start in the south?

Usually 2nd week of August... depends. sometimes our (Texas) town gets a waiver to start earlier but Lord if I know why. It sure isn't due to snow days. LOL

I remember in school (and I'm not ANCIENT! LOL) we didn't start back until mid Sept. My kids have lost an entire month of summer. I hate it... summer seems like you blink and it's gone.
