Hi, I'm just trying to gauge crowds for our upcoming August trip :)

I'm from the UK and have been trying to search online for an answer to this but have had no success, sorry if this has been asked on here before!

I've never done a poll before so hoping this works and thank you everyone in advance for your help :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :)

It varies all across the country. We are pretty late here in the Northeast and don't go back until a few days after Labor Day. We have friends who visit DW late August and they said the crowds aren't too bad.

There is no exact answer to your question. Every state and sometimes different schools go back at different times. I'm a teacher in New York State and my district does open until the Wednesday after Labor Day (Which is the first Monday in September). There are some districts across the US that open in August and there may be some in July. It just depends. I will tell you that most schools in the southern part of the US open in mid-August. However there will still be schools that don't open until the beginning of September.

In my area, public schools return the day after labor day and private schools return in mid to late August.

Hi thanks guys! I guess that's why I can't seem to find an answer on google if everyone is different lol.

We are going to the world the 16th-30th August (with a few visits to the dark side inbetween too) so hopefully the crowds won't be too bad,I've just been scared by the wait times I'm seeing for the spring holiday season on MDE (which I'm obsessed at looking at!) and the pictures of the crowds recently too! I was hoping for most schools to be back by our trip but maybe that was being optimistic :)

Thank you so much for your answers and help :thumbsup2

We are actually going to Disney August 18-27. Easywdw says it's a level 6 crowd the first week and 4 the second week. I've been that last week and it's all doable. It's hurricane season in Florida so consider travel insurance just in case. I know we always do. Not because we are afraid of WDW being hit but because it could affect our flights in and out. :)

Hey thanks for the advice,we will definitely be investing in good travel insurance for our flights and maybe some of those disposable ponchos too to prepare for the weather :thumbsup2

Luckily, being from the uk,rain is a way of life for us so hopefully the thunder storms and showers won't be too much of an issue for us,much more worried about everyone coping with the heat,it will be my brother's first time abroad and having been to florida before myself I think he'll be in for a shock with the humidity bless him! I'm just hoping to avoid 60 min waits all day in the heat and crowds :crowded: :)

We live in Celebration, right next to Disney, our schools start back August 18th.

Thanks for the reply Stacey! Wow what a awesome name of a place to live,Celebration sounds like it should be part of Disney!! Such a pretty name for a town :)

Here in MI, most (public) schools start the day after Labor day. State law says they can't start before that.

End of August but other local districts mid-August to early September

The public schools in my area start after Labor day, but i'm in a charter school so we start the week before - august 25th-ish.

Thanks Dumbo :)

It does seem that the first week in September is the most popular choice, hope this won't mean unbearable crowds for us,we don't mind using fastpass for headliners and waiting around 30 mins for other things but I have been seeing 60+ mins for the likes of pirates and haunted mansion and that has me a bit worried!

I'm in Mississippi and we go back August 6th. I'm glad we go back early because it's so hot.

Celebration WAS originally developed by Disney in the mid 90s as a planned community.

Oh, and most public schools in NC start back on August 25th. DD's school starts on the 11th.

Too early - the week of August 4th. I'd rather they start a week later and cut down Christmas break to just one week.

This upcoming year is going to be different - one starting High school and the other starting college a few weeks later.
