When do points charts for cruise come out?

Does anyone know when they usually release the point charts for the Disney Cruise? I am planning to cruise again in Fall 2003 and wondering when they usually come out. Also, for anyone who has cruised using points and paying cash - how are the cash prices? If we use points for 2 people and pay for a third, is the cash price about what is in the brochure, more or less?

I cruised the Magic in June and used points for 2 adults. Payed cash for a child $650. The cash price depends on when your cruising and cabin level. The cash and $75 transaction fee must be payed all at once when you book. If you wish to change a reservation and add on another for instance - they charge you the $75 transaction fee again for changing your reservation.

The 2002 DCL points list was published 8/15/01. I believe it came out right around then.

The 2002 chart for DCL was released to DVC Member Services on April 30, 2001. (I know, because I booked our 2002 cruise on May 1, 2001, and I was told that the chart had just been released the previous day.)

Prior to April 30, Member Services had been unable to quote the point requirements for 2002. They would let you book a cruise with points -- but they couldn't tell you how many points they would deduct, so you were essentially giving Disney a blank check. Or you could wait till the chart was released, but in the meantime, desirable cabin locations or entire categories could be booked up.

For a while, the only way to get the numbers was to call Member Services; the charts weren't on the DVC Member Web site, nor were there printed charts. The chart was revised when the Western Caribbean cruises (with higher point requirements) were added to the Disney Magic's 2002 schedule.

For your sake, I hope the 2003 chart comes out earlier in the year.

You can book a cruise with points up to 11 months before the beginning date of the cruise.

That makes sense. Or possibly 8/15/01 is when the charts were revised to add the Western Caribbean cruises. I really don't know.
