When do kids go back to schools in the West/CA?

When does school start up in the west - in CA and surrounding states?

This question comes up often during the summer.

Aug 31st is probably the date of the largest population of students. A few later than that a few earlier.

For CA, most likely skiingfast is right on the money. A lot of schools in AZ are already getting ready to start next week.

Anywhere between Mid-August - Tuesday after Labor Day.

School's here go back August 22.

Very few go back in September anymore. All my grandkids are back in school now.

I wish they started in September like they used to, way back in the day. Our DD starts school on the 24th of August (We live in LA county). Yeah, mid-week to!

The private school my GK are going to this year starts the 8th, public schools start the 16th..this is southern New Mexico

Many, if not most, of the schools in the immediate area either start Sept 1st (a Thursday this year) or the tuesday after Labor Day.

Many schools in my area of N. California (a major market for DLR ) start after Labor Day. I would say you are not safe crowd-wise until after that.

We are in LA County (but not part of LA School System) and our district goes back on the Thursday after Labor Day (Sept. 8th, this year). I think our district is one of the last to start back. Most everyone else that we know is already back at school before my kids start back.

Our School District starts the Tue after Labor Day. HTH!

A lot of Arizonans go to CA and Disneyland in the summer to escape the heat.

Around here (Phoenix area) several districts are already back, and most go back Monday or Wednesday next week.

That and the colleges start back the 20th. Yes, I took a Saturday class. lol

In my area of Nor Cal, we go back mid-August.

We live in Central Ca and we go back Wed. I think it will really vary up adn down the state. There will be a lot more time out of school during the year due to the budget cuts.
