I ordered and received my breakfast vouchers and (2) Planet HOllywood gift certificates. I understand that I was charged $25 each for the PH GC, so when/how do I get refunded my $10 for them?

My understanding is that Hotwire issues the rebates the first week of the following month - so if you bought in Oct., you should have the $10 rebated back to your credit card by Nov. 5.

My rebates have been credited on the next month's statement. You do NOT have to use the gift cards to get the credit.

I was planning on cancelling the subscription before the month is out. Does that mean I won't get the $10?!!!

Yes. Keep the membership active to receive the rebates.

If I have to keep the membership open and get charged the $7.99 fee, in order to get my $5 back on each PH gift certificate I bought, then that rather defeats the purpose, doesn't it? It ends up that I've really bought $50 worth of PH gift cards for $48. Am I completely misunderstanding this? Is that the case with any gift card bought from them? Such as Olive Garden or Outback? Don't they all indicate $25 gift card for $20, but they charge you the $25. So then you only get the $5 back after the next billing cycle at which time the've charged you another month's fee? Does anyont understand my confusion?

You are right. That is why I've seen a lot of suggestions to join mid-month - then you have time to purchase your tickets/gift certificates and get the rebate at the beginning of the month before having to cancel in the middle of the month. Check the date you joined to see if you can put off cancelling until after you get the rebate. Good Luck!

I purchased a whole bunch of gift cards to use at Xmas and other times, so the $7.95 was more than recovered. I also bought many Q and C vouchers and some PH tickets, which are a good deal. I also look upon the free shipping as a perk. And don't forget the $10 check for joining! I will cancel after a few months and be way ahead.

You have to read the fine print when joining. You only get the rebates at the end of the month if your membership is still active. I joined for about 6 months, bought a lot of gift cards for Target, Toys R Us, Penneys, Olive Garden, Media Play, Borders, Hard Rock Cafe, and Blockbusters, so it was very worth it for me. ($40 in rebates vs. the $7.95 monthly fee.) I cancelled as soon as my last rebates showed up, around the 5th of the month. I was never charged another monthly fee. I was thinking they would try to get one last month's fee out of me, since I cancelled partly into the month, but it didn't work that way.
