Does anyone know? I'm hoping for an early Dec. trip, we want to avoid the Christmas crowds, but still see the decorations, would like the second week of Dec. be a good time to go?

Also, I'm going to be new to the West coast, I haven't been to CA since I was a toddler (you don't need to know how long ago that was, LOL) and there are a million places I want to go while we're on this trip! The more I read, the more I want to do. What are some of the attractions that you simply wouldn't miss besides Disneyland? I'm thinking that we'll try for 9 days in CA, 3 of them at the Disneyland parks/DTD. We have 5 kids, they'll be 9, 8, 6, 4, and 1 years old. Some things I've considered are Legoland, SD Zoo, Universal Studios Hollywood, what's not to miss?

TIA! :wizard:

Christmas decorations actually go up early November, so you'll definitely see them all.

Sorry, can't help you on what else to see. I can't drag myself away from the parks, except when I drive down from northern CA. When I drive down, we go right past Six Flags Magic Mountain, and just have to stop.

We were in the parks this year on November 5th and everything was fully decorated for Christmas. Small World also reopened on that day as well. Santa was at CA and the characters were in there holiday best! We got a great Christmas picture!

Your kids are probably in the right age group for Legoland. The SD Zoo is amazing and not to be missed if you like zoos. Some of your kids might be too young for Universal Studios, though. Things will either scare them or they'll just be too small to experience them. The 8 and 9 year olds would probably be ok, but I wouldn't take kids much younger. The backlot tour alone might be too much (you go through King Kong, Jaws, and earthquake among other things). You might want to consider Sea World instead of Universal.
