I've heard three different versions about this. One is that they show up in the Disney system 20 mins. later. The next is that they show up at opening the next day, and the third is that they show up after 11 a.m. the next day.

Which one of these is right?

My understanding is that they post early the next day..... I called to day at 7:30 am and upgraded our rooms from deluxe savanahs to 2 br suite for the 1st through the 3rd. I had been unable to do so until this morning, but I kept calling every morning after being told by a CM that early AM was the trick!

There is a difference between reservations which are canceled by the customer and reservations which are automatically canceled because the customer doesn't pay the deposit or balance when it's due.

The automatic cancellations are done overnight.

Okay, I just got another story, and that is the room becomes available immediately once it is cancelled by the person holding the ressie. I'm really confused now. Should I keep calling today or wait until tomorrow a.m.?

Do both!!! I find that persistence pays........

As the OP stated, both are correct. If you call and cancel/change your room, that "old ressie" goes back in the system almost instantly. If it is a ressie on a 24 hour or 14 day courtesy hold (as well as balance dues not paid) they cancel and post overnight.
