during our last visit in Dec. we were surprised by the amount of private functions that Disney had sold making use of certain areas of the parks not open to those who had paid park addmission. We experienced this on several different days including once during illuminations when they roped of England through Canada! We also saw this in the resorts.Between this and all the areas that now require and additional price paid [ie.the candle light procession and e-night ]we really felt we were cheated from what we paid for. This was the first visit we felt so short changed.Perhaps this accounts for the aggressive angy other guests we saw through the parks...you pay so much to come and between the short hours and ropes you feel less then a valued guest.

I agree.

It is as insulting as charging you full price when certain attractions are closed for renovations or what have you. You still pay for access to all areas!

But it is most effective if you contact them directly. They may call you to register your complaint formally

wdw.guest.communications@wda.disney.com

At least it was the address last time we stayed there.

I'm sorry you had so many occasions when areas were closed for private functions...I've never heard of them roping off England to Canada....did they make people wall the long way around???

Also, CP is free unless you want a reserved seat, you don't have to spend the extra money...

So, using this logic I should pay less for going in the offseason?

When we were there a few years ago, they closed MGM three hours early for a McDonald's convention.

Mitch, you make no sense to me bud. If everything is open off-season, pay full price then.

If you agree to pay full price when not everything is accessible, it is your buck! But I am one to believe that if they don't have all areas open and I paid for access to all areas, the price should be reduced or something else offered in place.

Just my opinion...

I have to disagree. Rehabs are necessary (and can't only be done overnight) to ensure ride safety and preserve or update the rides. It amazes me that 32 years later, Small World always looks freshly painted and the doll clothes impeccable. If they didn't rehab it ever it would look worse than the 10 year old paint job in my dining room.

There is so much to see and do in Disney that several rides down, although disappointing certainly doesn't leave you with free time in your schedule. Basically, they could see the price already accounts for a "discount for closed rides" as several things are always being rehab.

Personally, I am happy they continue the maintence for my safety and enjoyment. JMHO

I have never been to WDW off season and not had something closed. I have not been to WDW in the offseason and had fireworks Spectro everynight. Your comment is ill informed. I pay the SAME as people who get more. Should I pay less? I don't know and don't particularly care. I'm mature enough to know that no matter what the venue nothing is ever completely open. I also am wise enough to know that if WDW is bringing in big conferences you stand a chance that areas will be closed. Ask me about the 5000 kids that Hilary Clinton brought.

Just MY opinion.

OK, I'll ask....tell us about the time that Hillary Clinton brought 5000 kids to WDW (I assume.)? I can tell you that would have ticked me off at some point, I'm sure....and no, not just because it was Hillary Clinton!

I personally find it disappointing and irritating, yet, just part of the gig when things are closed for private conventions or rehab (which I find to be a neccesary disappointment.) But, Disney is a business just like any other and will permit certain things for those who shell out!

This is starting to sound like the debate board. Maybe they should have hourly admission charges to be fair to everyone. Sometimes the park close at 8pm and sometimes midnight. Guess someone is getting ripped off;)

As for rehabs, they are generally posted about 6 months in advance and if it is that important to someone, they can cancel their trip. I would take Disney with 50% rehab than no Disney at all:smooth:

It was 1995 and Hilary brought 5000 or more inner city kids to WDW. We were staying at CBR and most if not all were there. It was in April. Did we let it affect us? Not really. They screwed up the food court and the busses. We were at WDW havnig a great time in the offseason. We did get to see fireworks from the dock behind the CR since they were having a private party. The lines were longer and the hours not long but we had a great time. We don't let uncontrollables affect us. We find away around them.

As for the 5000 kids, if you saw the joy and excitement then you were happy for them and put your own feelings aside. For some it may have been their only trip. It's not always about "me" or "you"

Gee Mitch guy, do you ever stop to smell the flowers or is everything in your life a hunk of bitterness? Your tone is often aggressive, angry and politicized. Maybe you can learn to keep those in the board where bickering is welcomed.

By the way, your post is quite comical: Sounds like you describe the worst of that experience with "Hillary's kids" then glorify your sacrifice at the end...

Back to the topic, no, I do not feel guests should pay full price when the attractions aren't offered in full. I don't give a rat's @&& either way, there's more important things in life to bicker about. But if a guest feels strongly against it, it is his/her right to contact guest services and express the opinion. And is has nothing to do with being worse than someone who is not annoyed by it.

I'm glad you're the DIS Analyst. I thought discussion was welcome on all boards. I guess you are the DIS police. Did you search on my posts to see my tone? I haven't posted much recently so I'm kinda curious.

Glorify my sacrifice. I made none. If you can read I think I said we DEALT with it.

Biting tongue. Well if you're in a kissing mood,

Did I say they couldn't or anything about being worse? I just said it's not about me or you.

I think people who go in the off season go with the knowledge that things are going to close earlier and that some things are going to be in rehab. They know what they are paying for. On the other hand to get in the park and THEN to find out some of what you have paid to see is closed off to the general public that normally isn't because of another group doesn't seem very fair. We were staying at the Contemporary several years ago, came back from the parks, tired and ready for an afternoon in the pool. They had it roped off for a private function. To me, that wasn't fair. They had charged me the same price as I was paying for the other nights (and believe me,it was a hunk of money because it was before I found the DIS boards and the good rates). We called the front desk to express our dismay at the situation and they gladly discounted that nights stay AND they gave us permission to swim at the Poly. So, in all it turned out fine, but you really do have to let Disney know you are upset about it, in a nice way of course, and they will most likely make up for it in some way.

I'm sorry that you felt that you were short changed during your trip to WDW.

This thread has become an argument, it seems. I'm going to close it now.
