When did you start playing VMK & How did you hear about VMK?

I have been on DIS long before VMK started on the cast member and pin boards. I started reading posts about this new Virtual Game being released, this was back in May. Then I read a post about the actual release and quickly signed up both of my daughters for the game. They both have "day one" badges.

I also tried to sign up for an account back in June but was having too many technical issues so I gave up. I finally was able to create my main account, cruiselinefan, back in August.

We actually were at the parks last June and we saw the sign outside of VMK central on our last day of the trip but we did not have any time to go inside since we were getting ready to head to the airport.

:thumbsup2 I've been reading DIS on and off for about five years, and just noticed this vmk forum a month ago. I tried vmk and got instantly hooked. VMK is a magnificent game for disney fanatics.

Worse, I got DS11 and DS6 hooked, too; it is more fun to listen to than their last game addiction, Runescape. ;)

So thanks, Disney, for vmk. What does Disney corp get out of vmk other than fixing brand loyalty, my never ending gratitude, and a goodly portion of our vacation budget?

And here I was trying to figure out how to blame cegirl for my VMK addiction. :rotfl:

Nice try, but as much as try you can't blame me for your addiction to VMK or anything else. I am the variable  in this relationship. ;)

i joined in July. I was searching the web and pop! a space ship comes on the screen with litle ppl coming out. of course, it was an ad for VMK. I clicked on it and I went to the home page. then, i just signed up!

I first heard about VMK on the magical express. This was around the beginning of May, when the magical express was just starting out. I got home after the trip and found the site. Unfortunately, it said it was coming soon. Then I forgot about it until about a month later and I have been playing ever since. I wish i had checked more often to see if it was open because I joined 3 days after it officially opened, so no Day 1 pin for me.

I've been playing since Day 1.

I think I saw a post on the CB, not sure now, it was a long time ago - LOL!

Oh mine is interesting! I was at WDW and it started pouring the rain so we went into VMK Central where there were all these people playing "some computer game." lol I grabbed a quest card just to do something while waiting..well my husband used to work at WDW so he knew all the anwers without having to go through the park. So we created a character, got some quest cards...and now I need VMK therapy cause I just wont quit. That was in uh August I believe! Anybody know of a good VMK therapy group I could join? :rotfl:

While doing some research for my upcoming WDW trip my family and I were taking in January I came across an ad for VMK. The night before we left I downloaded the stuff needed to play the game and the screensaver. I had my laptop with me while in WDW but no internet connection so while I was there all I found was the flyer with a code for VMK. When I got home and finally was able to play I began Googling to find codes and any info I could after VMK closed. Now that I learned there was so much more I could have done or gotten while in WDW I wish I could go back. I need another Disney fix since that one was mostly ruined due to crabby 18 year old sister who doesn't like Disney and I don't know where she got her genes from lol.

I am Hooked on VMK!! pirate: :thumbsup2

Your sister sounds like mine!!! LOL! :goodvibes

I have to thank my vmk addiction to my friend superzippie. At first I didn't get it but the further I explored the more I got into it. And then I discovered Pirates; that's when I had truly fallen in and now I can never return. lol

That was about Sept. of last year. ;)

i started last september (2005) after i came back from disney world. my dad saw the flier and now i am forever hooked! :stir: i think vmk does something with the website to make you hooked. :stir: evil! well..........maybe not to evil lol :rotfl2:

my story was different than everyone else's. i used to play neopets *cough*.
i was looking at the recent news and there was an ad for VMK. I was like, "What is that? Disney is cool!" I played it..then i was hooked on. :rotfl2:

I started playing in Septemberish but I could have started in August! Mad at myself :) Anyway, I saw it on a cereal box, only I thought it just looked pretty cool and forgot about it. Then, I tried to make an account only it said something about something that could not log in. I kept trying, and after that I finally succeeded! I am now hooked, sadly!

P.S. I saw the add on Neopets after my cereal box, which was my old addiction.

Edit: Bootsonton, didn't I see you long ago when I said you were lucky you had teleportation and you became my friend?

I joined on the first day of Beta after following the press release and the site. From about July to December I didn't play, as I was more preoccupied with my social life then VMK. I still only usually play three quarters of an hour on a normal day, I'm too busy doing other things like football (not exactly right now)/socializing/silly life.
My secret addiction.

My 4 year old saw it on the back of a cereal box. He loves looking at the boxes and showed me the picture. I logged us on and he was hooked. The first few weeks were tough because he couldn't read.

I really believe that the Disney dictionary in VMK is what taught him to read and write, because he had to spell everything correctly.

He has two characters, coolmandrew and mistergeorge.

He is five now, reading everything, typing messages to everyone and helping ME with the quests. VMK is amazing!

I was playing another virtual community at the time and there was an advertisement on that site for it. I believe the creator of the one, Sulake, took part in createing VMK. Anyways I tried it out and enjoyed it but stoped, then resigned up cause I couldn't remember the name again. Once again I love intrest however in the past week I've been hooked with yet another account and I don't plain to quit anytime soon.

I was playing another online game with my friend when he says "Check out this game,it's called VMK." Then i started, and now i'm where i am now. :)

Very off topic, but the show the girl in your avatar is from Pearl725 is verrryy creepy.

I found out about VMK through the Washington Post it was part of a 50th celebration section and at the end there was this little seqment dedicated to VMK, with a picture of original pirates lobby
That was in March of '05 I was going to join the very first day of beta but the computer broke so I couldn't. I went to my friends house to sign up a few weeks later, but I didn't really start playing frequently until November 2005:wizard: pirate: princess: :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :lovestruc Im Hooked! and closing it still doesn't get rid of my addiction!
