When did you first start to get Morning Sickness

I started felling nauseous around week 8 with the first but only if I let myself get hungry. I would nibble on crackers or a granola bar as soon as I thought I was hungry. I felt great after I figured that out! So it only lasted a week or two.
With the second I felt fine the whole time. My OB said the majority of women actually don't get morning sickness, you just don't hear from them.;) It doesn't make for a very interesting story.
Congratulations on the pregnancy!

Never had nausea or m/s - but boy did I make up for it w/ heartburn! I lived off of Maalox

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I threw up from week 5 right up unto birth for both of my kids. But I was blessed with short labour and deliveries (2 hours for my first, 20 minutes (!!!!!) for my second) so I guess everything balanced up for me!

Re heartburn, lots of it for my firstborn and he had lots of hair. Not much for my DD but she had quite a bit of hair too!

Wow-

I had morning sickness with my first for 3 months. It was horrible. But so was the labor.

I would rather have morning sickness then a long labor.

And you know something else? I have been way more snippy (to put it nicely). My attitude needs a big adjustment. I am biting everyone's head off.

Any of you have a bad attittude to boot?

Sick before the test came back positive! Actually had been sick a week or so.....so was about the very next day  And stayed that way until the birth

First one...on sleeping pill/B-6 cocktail to take the edge off....only kept down about every other meal.

Second one....got put on anti-nausea meds normally given to chemo patients! That worked! But I was back to puking my guts out every time they tried to wean me off the max dosage....so was on those until I gave birth.

I just don't do pregnancy well :sad2:

Absolutely! It was the worst while pregnant with my only son. DH says our marriage can't survive another pregnancy.

Somedays, I STILL have that bad attitude!;)

I remember it like it was yesterday. I got up one morning and started to cook DH some eggs and had to run to the bathroom. GAG!

I was sick for the next 7 months. Sometimes I could tolerate only certain foods. One week I ate oranges, the next week all I could keep down were cola slurpees. Whenever possible I was downing liquid protein drinks (Ensure?) which were absolutely disgusting. The doctor kept threatening to put me in the hospital, like I was doing it on purpose or something. I was never prescribed any medications because my stomach kept growing (or so they told me).

And the smells! I would have to suddenly bolt from peoples' homes or stores or wherever if a smell began to bother me. Carpets were the worst.

It wasn't until the last trimester I could actually eat. I weighed less at 9 months pregnant than when I got pregnant!

Same thing happened with child #2. Luckily I did something right as they are both grown and healthy 20 somethings today!

With DS I had morning sickness, or rather "all day" sickness, from 6-weeks pregnant until the day he was born, every single day, sometimes 2-3 times each day. I remember almost every Sunday night, on our way home from our bowling league, I would have to have DH pull over so I could jump out and toss my cookies!! I have no idea how I gained 40 pounds, but I guess the calories stayed with me long enough to count!! I was always hungry, and still loved to eat, even though so many times it came right back up. :crazy2:

With DD I had the "normal" amount of morning sickness, from a few weeks pregnant until the beginning of my 4th month, then I felt GREAT the rest of the time!! They did put me on Compazine when I had morning sickness that time, but I had a severe allergic reaction to it so had to stop. I've since been told they no longer even make that drug.

I have never had morning sickness. But the prenatal viatmans made me sick twice.

I'm probably not going to make any friends with this post, but I never had morning sickness with either of my boys. (My mom didn't have it with me, maybe I inherited it?) I got slightly queasy from the prenatal vitamins, and immediately began taking them at night. No other nausea for me. I DID have gestational diabetes with both, so maybe that evens it out for me.:)

By the time I was a month along with each pregnancy, I knew before the tests confirmed it. I could not brush my teeth and tongue without gagging!

I always seemed to get morning sickness exactly two weeks after my "missed" period! With my oldest DS it lastest almost the whole 9 months but it got a lot better with the other two.:D

With DS I really never had any morning "all-day" sickness and I was hoping that trend would continue but with this one I started feeling mildly sick around 5 1/2 - 6 weeks and it has gotten progressively worse. I am now a little over 9 weeks and the last two days have not been too bad {knock on wood} so I am hoping the worse is behind me.

I got the clue I was pregnant here at the DIS because I was biting people's heads off for stupid stuff that I would just hit the back button on. I have a very short fuse but its getting better as the weeks go on - or I am getting desensitized to it ;)

Hey, I wanted to write an update to you but after reading some of the further posts I am starting to think my nurse is wrong as a lot have written that they started m/s at 8 weeks. But here it is for what its worth, I went for my first prenatal exam yesterday and the nurse said to me that if I hadn't experienced morning sickness by now, 8 weeks, I probably wouldn't! WOOOOO HOOOO! Second pregancy with no morning sickness - I had an absolutely horrendous labor and delivery with complications - the kinda delivery that makes women cringe - so it kinda doesn't make me feel better that I don't get sick at the beginning because I think the ending is going to really be bad until they lay that wee one in my arms - then everything is all better.

That's how I feel. My first labor was horrible and although I am lucky to have my little boy, I am dreading this next labor like grim death.

But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, right?

BTW-For the past week I have felt so gross and tired. I don't remember the last pregnancy feeling this bad. But I do remember the M/S. My head feels like jello. And I bet I could sleep all day long.

Can't wait for the first trimester to be over.....but I am very happy to finally be pregnant.

Thanks for all the stories.

Labor might not be so bad the second time around. My first was 52 hours, 3 hours of pushing and finally, a forceps delivery.
My second was under 6 hours and he popped out after 20 minutes of pushing.

I am starting to begin to feel a little better but it seems to come and go and is different day by day. I have never felt this tired - I don't even remember being this tired when I was first home with my son from the hospital. Maybe this is our morning sickness. Extreme exhaustion. I am ready to keel over and start snoring right on the pavement most days.

bananiem, that's what I hear and I am banking on it. Its probably the only reason why I got pregnant again. I am betting on it being better this time around.

i'm not pregnant, at least i don't know if i am yet...but i just wanted to wish all of you the best of luck and hope that the M/S is at a dull roar for you!!

dh and i have been trying to get pregnant for sometime now and have only recently sought medical help. my cycles are so irregular it was nearly impossible to pinpoint ovulation. i've read the books...it just doesn't help when you don't ovulate! :) we're doing the clomid, estrogen, and progesterone treatment this month. and boy...that progesterone is just a wicked hormone! i cried for no reason yesterday cuz someone was nasty with me on the phone...lol...and i'm now finding that i'm wanting to rip heads off first and ask why later...if we are successful this cycle...i certainly feel sorry for my DH for the next 9 months!

we take our test on july 8...counting down the days! cross your fingers for us!

Scarlett873-my fingers and toes will be crossed for you. I hope you can join the ranks with all of us pregnant women. We can gripe, share and give comfort to each other.

I am also banking on a short and less painful then last delivery.

Has anyone heard from Hillbeans? She was going to take her test yesterday and I want to know what has happened. Does anyone know?
