When did you fall in love with Disney World?

I fell in love with Disney the first time I went in 1993. It was with my dad and stepmom and my son (who turned 7 on this trip) we would go on to have several more trips with my parents before my dad lost his battle with cancer in 2006. After being diagnosed with lung cancer all he wanted to do was go back to Disney one last time....sadly he never made it....I have been back once since we lost him and it was bittersweet. Now in February my stepmom and I are going and it will be her first trip without him, but he will be there with us in spirit I am sure!

For me I have always loved Disney but I didn't fall madly in love with WDW until 06. I often watched the Disney movies when I was younger and it was a real escape for me growing up in a difficult household. I remember seeing the Little Mermaid in the theatres  and wishing I was Ariel!

We did visit in 86 but I vaguely rememberd that trip until 06 when my DH and I rode the ferry from WL to the MK and saw the Poly! A bunch of memories of the live Luau show and the rooms then came flooding back. I also visited with my DM, DA, and DB and stayed at the contemporary. The only things I remember from that trip was how cool it was that the monorail went right through the hotel, Figment(he's my fav:lovestruc) and eating breakfast with Mickey. I again visited in high school with band and got to play in Epcot, which I thought was cool at the time. But the trip was a lot of running around and not a lot of fun time in the parks. Although I do remember Tower of Terror being awesome!

Not until 06 when I was an adult did I realize the detail and love of the people that work there to really make things magical. I also found that I could check reality at the door and just have fun! I rode Dumbo(for the first time that I remember) and didnt even care that DH and I were the only adults without kids on the ride  I truley appreciated every minute of it and only stayed 2 days that time and it made me crave more. Now I'm planning my birthday trip for April 09 and cant wait to stay in the Contemporary again! then the Poly for my 30th with a cruise! :woohoo:

I was hooked at the age of 5 on the first trip that my family took in 1978.

I could never talk my parents into returning so I had to love Disney from a distance until as an adult I cannot stay away.

When I was a Sophmore in HS(1993) I had the opportunity to go on a class trip to WDW. My mom and eldest sister had gone in 1985 for my sisters SR trep. I still have the souveniers my mom bought for me on that trip. When my parents found out that I could go with my class they decided it would be a great opportunity.

We had all day at MK and the option to park hop if we had enough $$ with us. All I could talk about was meeting Mickey Mouse. My friends thought I was silly and I didn't care. I will never forget walking down main street for the first time. I was overwhelmed when I seen the castle, it was the most beautiful sight. I remember being a tad dissapointed that all I could do was shop or walk through. I am not sure what I was expecting but I wanted to experience more of the castle. It took all day to find Mickey but I will never forget the moment I met him.

I am an avid disney trip planner and to this day I think of how much more I could have experienced had I been more prepared. It was several years later before I returned to the Happiest Place on Earth. It was 2005, my husband and I decided to take our then 6 yr old dd and 3 yr old ds to meet the mouse. Our DD was so excited to see Cinderella and a dear friend of mine had gone a few times and told me about Cindy's breakfast. Imagine how excited I was to actually get to go inside the castle. I was extremely excited and I shed tears during breakfast as I sat in awe watching all the enjoyment that was visible on my children's faces.

There were many other great memories for us on that trip but I will always treasure the moments in the castle and the looks on their faces the first time they seen the castle and met Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

That was a pefect trip, we had the best 5 days at all four parks. We have made WDW a vacation destination in 2006 and 2007 and can't wait until I can plan trip #4. I am so glad that I can share the disney experience with my family. It thrills my heart to know that they can say they are disney kids and look forward to the day that I can take my grandchildren. That is a long time away but it never hurts to plan ahead.

I love that my kids are "Disney kids" too. They range in ages 6 to 1 and I too have every intention of taking lots of trips with grandkids. We joined DVC and when my husband said, "I don't think we'll be going to Disney 50 years from now." I let him know that those would be the years with grandkids to take. If he wants to sit home and be a party pooper then he can. Don't rain on my Disney parade! :lmao: :goodvibes
