WHEN did you buy your insurance?

Curious here. Our TA said we did not really have to purchase insurance until we make our payment next year since up until that time your money you have initially deposited is completely refunadable. But, I have read that alot of insurance companies want you to purchase within 7 - 14 days of making your first deposit. Now I am worried!

Both are right... you really do not HAVE to purchase insurance until final pay is due....but many insurance companies want you to purchase your insurance within 7-14 days of deposit to cover you for "pre-existing" conditions. That is the main reason for purchasing insurance right away.

I booked the repo cruise last May and still have not purchased my insurance....I will this week.

I was also told by my TA that the insurance is not refundable so be 100% sure you are going to cruise before buying.

We get it right away so that anything & everything that could happen is covered. One thing that I was suprised to find out is that if something happened to my MIL due to her cancer, that would be considered a preexisting condition. She isn't going on the cruise but if we were to cancel due to her disease, the insurance company would consider that a preexisting condition & not cover us. Rediculous IMO but that is how it works.

I wonder...I am hoping to get pregnant before our next cruise and definitely will purchase travel insurance. If I get the insurance after I get pregnant, I wonder if they will cover me if I get put on bedrest the week before the cruise. I will have to double check and make sure to buy my insurance at the right time!
