When did they start calling them "Ding Dongs" again?

Yodels are actually frosted on the ends - look at the "sealed package" picture on the box. The stand-alone one is just so we can see what's inside.

Drakes Swiss Rolls are naked. They are basically a giant, naked Yodel.

It is very sad that I know this - isn't it :confused3

It will be even sadder if you can also tell the difference between the Ho Ho's and Little Debbie Swiss Rolls too....;)

OK, I'm back. I need to talk to someone over the age of 40...OK, you're here.....I remember this, maybe I'm crazy, OK I am crazy, but maybe not at this particular moment. I remember when Ding Dongs came out. Then they decided the name was too "risque", so they renamed them to King Dons. (possibly even King Dongs before the final change..??) Does any one remember this, or am I having a 70's non-drug induced flashback???:hippie:

Oh yeah, Southern4sure, I'm ready for that picture.:cool2:

Thank you for that clarification, Laura. I have in fact, taken a closer look and see that you are correct. I do remember Swiss Rolls. And, how about the Suzy Q? And, my mom's favorite, the Sno-Ball.

I'm guilty of that as well :lmao:

I've always found Little Debbie Swiss Rolls to have a bit of a "salty" taste to them. But they are great for "dis-assembly" - the Little Debbie frosting/coating comes off in one piece.

Oh dear, this is bad, isn't it. I think it is time to leave the Community Board and visit the Weight Loss Board. :)

Oh, that Little Debbie fake chocolatey coating is the best! Especially when little bits of cake stick to the back... yum!!

Oops:goodvibes you are right, thank you for the clarification. Some type of snack cake that my FIL sends to my DH from the East Coast arrives naked, that is all I know:lmao: Being a West Coast Hostess Girl,:hippie: this oddity did not go unnoticed!

:cool1: Your Mother has excellent taste! I love the sno-balls, I really like them frozen!

My brother gave me these to use as a dessert for a Relay for Life concession stand fundraiser. He didnt charge me a dime and still drove from AL to central FL with all these in his truck. He is a route sales manager for Hostess. I got connections babe!

Seriously though I do have issues!

I didn't know that was REALLY your picture! I'm impressed! :teeth:

I'm the Ding Dong - you're the Ho Ho. Get it straight, Angel....:sad2:

Wait, I thought Angel was the Ding Dong? :confused3

I know Angel, STHU!!!;)

Get your mind outta the gutter, lady!

Yeah, I should've known better. Your mind lives and thrives in the gutter! :rotfl2:

Then again, mine likes to visit the gutter occasionally. It's a fun place.

It never leaves! :cool2:

From this post I would say, yep! :rolleyes1

And who really cares, they are both chocolate and that is a very good thing! :thumbsup2 And now I have to go see if there are any Ding Dongs left in the kitchen. :sad2:

I just saw a show on food network this past week that explained the Ding Dong / King Don issue. Drake came out with the ring ding first and then Hostess copied it and named it Ding Dong. Drake sued Hostess and the name had to be changed on the east cost were Drake is popular. Here in Michigan it was the Ding Dong then for some reason we started getting them as King Dons some times and Ding Dongs some times. I think in places besides the east coast it just depends on were they are being shipped from. In my area we do not have Drakes at all we do have Little Debbie and she is cheap compared to Hostess.

She's the Boone's Farm Wine of cakes. :)
Good enough for sugar rush when the others aren't available.
