Last year when we went to Disney the DDP credits weren't specified as child's versus adult's which allowed a little more flexibility with the credits. Our problem involves a toddler that eats more like an adult than a child.

They began enforcing the separation, for TS credits only, at the beginning of 2007. Note that the 2006 DDP brochure said "For each night of your package, the Disney Dining Plan includes the following meals for each Guest in your party: One (1) Table-Service MealIncludes appetizer, entree, dessert or full buffet and non-alcoholic beverage as well as gratuity (children ages 3-9 must choose from the children's menu if available." This from the 2006 DDP FAQ (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1023429)

Which implies that Disney didn't really intend anyone to be paying OOP for kid meals in order to save credits for adult meals, even in 2006.

As noted above, you never were permitted to use childs credits for "...a little more flexibility" although obviously a lot of people did.

During the latter part of 2006 Disney tightened up some on the abuse, and effective Jan 1, 2007, they actually separated the credits in the computer system. So now, when you use DDP for a TS meal, you will receive two checks and two receipts for your DDP credits -- one for the adult meals, and one for the childs meals. Everything from the placing of the order to the final accounting for the credits is now separate, and you can no longer use child's credits to pay for adult meals.

Although many servers in the past have tried to ensure that diners "maximized DDP," several CM's have reported here that they have now been threatened with disciplinary action -- up to and including termination -- if they allow guests to go outside the rules of DDP.

I guess they changed it when they got tired of people using the plan in a way it was clearly unintended. I'm honestly surprised it took them as long as it did to change the system.

I can see being sad at this adjustment, but not angry. Disney gives us some flexibility(from DDP Info Sticky):

I understand that where there is no child menu, children can order off the regular menu. Which CS locations do not have a separate child menu?
• Catalina Eddie
• Taluca Turkey Legs
• Cool Wash Pizza
• Casey's
• Pete's Doggone Good dogs
• Pizza Planet
• Sommerfest
• Yorkshire County Fish Shop

What if you have a child who is considered an adult by Disney prices (age 10) but is tiny and wants to order off the kids menu? Can she? Can they just charge it as an adult credit, but bring her a kids meal?

You will only have children's credits if you have a "child" on the plan. An adult can order a child's portion on DDP.

Someone stated that they seperate kids TS what about CS? Do they seperate the CS credits? This is our first time on it.

We did that several times without problems in March. Once, my 18yo ordered off the kids' menu and they didn't bat an eye.

I read that the CS credits have not been separated yet. Anyone with recent experience on the CS credits?

CS credits are enforced -primarily by CM. You cannot order more than what is on your key card. So 2A can order 2A meals, not 4.

As this is a topic that has become QUITE heated in the past, this thread will be closed.
