When Did I get Voted Off of Skinny Island #2: Castaway's Land Ho!!!!

I've got a variation of Jane's zucchini fries in the oven now!

I took summer squash, cut it into strips, made fresh bread crumbs cus I didn't have any canned (little worried about it cus the bread wasn't dry enough I don't think) used an egg wash instead of FF ranch.

So we'll see how they turn out! It's work in progress!

I'm crossing all my fingers and toes I can do well throughout the weekend. I was very happy with my weight this morning. TWO more days to weigh in. Gotta finish strong.

Tomorrow's gonna be the test though.
Going out to eat with my brother and his family. Yummy tacos and a chips and salsa bar. I've got flex points for it but I'm scared it's gonna bump me up on the scale Monday morning. :scared1:

Oh well!

I'll let y'all know how the squash sticks turn out!

Hey Skinny Islanders!! How is everyone doing?? I looked over the past few pages, and it seems like there are a few people here from when I was last here about a month or so ago. I just wanted to update everyone on what's been going on in my life.

For those who remember, I had a lump in one of my breasts in July, went to health services on my college campus who suggested I get it checked out. I had a ton of papers due at the end of the summer semester and kind of put it out of my mind. About 10 days ago, I finally went to my regular doc to see what he thought. He referred me to get a mammogram. So this past Tuesday I went for an ultrasound (since I'm only 28), and a mammogram. They said it was definitely something that I needed to have biopsied, and they weren't sure what it was. They had an opening the next day, so I had a biopsy scheduled. The people who performed it were great, but they were unable to fully numb the mass and the area, so I was in a TON of pain. OUCH!! Well, they called on Thursday afternoon with the results, and its definitely a cancer. I have an appointment on Tuesday with a surgeon to find out exactly what kind it is and what the next steps are going to be. I know you guys were so supportive for me when I was working on losing weight, and I was just hoping that you would keep me in your thoughts while I was going through all this. Everything still hasn't hit me yet. I still keep thinking I'm talking about someone else.

Note to everyone: Check your ta-tas! It doesn't matter what your age or if you have a family history of the illness. I was 27 when I found the lump, and am 28 now, and have no family history.

Obviously, my focus is going to be on other things during this time. I had every intention on refocusing myself to myself and working on losing weight and dedicating myself to the boards. I apologize to Dawn for not responding the PM's that she sent out earlier in August. August really got away from me! My summer semester ended, I moved back in with my parents (before I knew about my diagnosis), and I was trying to get all the kinks worked out for the fall semester (which I have now had to change). Thank you all for your flexibility and for being supportive through my weight loss journey. When I am healthy and ready, I hope to rejoin everyone on the path to skinny island!

You will most definitely be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery back to being cancer free!

Thank you for coming back and letting us know. I know that you have way more things to worry about than keeping us updated, but would love to hear how you are doing throughout your recovery process!

Sending many good healthy speedy cancer busting thoughts and prayers your way! :goodvibes If you need anything, please let us know!

Well we did alright on the yard sale, made about $240. Not bad for an evening and half of Saturday. And everything else is going to the church's FREE yard sale in two weeks. So I didn't have to bring a thing back into the house. :cool1: Now I just have to clean up this house, it always get neglected when we're in the middle of a "project".
Hope everyone has a good day today and is enjoying their long weekend. Amy, I will continue to think of you and pray for you and your family.

Aimee – I’ve never made the baked strips with summer squash, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Once I tried to make it by shredding the zucchini and mixing the dressing and breadcrumbs and then forming patties. The problem was I made the mixture too wet, but they tasted fine. They just took longer to cook. Your version sounded yummy. I’ll have to buy some zucchini at the store this week. Now I’m craving them.

Elizabeth – Good thoughts going out to DHs grandma. Hopefully she will tolerate the treatment well.:grouphug:

Julie – I LOVE that your son reminded you to give him his carrots. You have taught him some healthy habits early.

Amy – I’m so glad you have come back to let us know what is going on. I’ve been thinking about you. I’m so sorry for what you are going to have to go through, but I am SO glad that you got everything checked out and didn’t just assume that it was nothing. I understand that you will need to focus all of your energy on this, but I hope you drop by occasionally and update us. We are here for you whenever you need us for whatever type of support you need.:grouphug::grouphug:

Friday went well food wise. I only had to work a ½ day and then went over to my Mom’s to help get her office room organized. We were trying to find her birth certificate amid a room of unorganized papers. I’m really not quite sure how it got this bad after I spent a day organizing everything a year or so ago. This time I took over labels and we put everything away in file drawers. We didn’t finish (heck we barely made a dent) but we did find her certificate. Unfortunately, the seal isn’t visible enough for the Passport people so we have to order her a new birth certificate from Minneapolis. Hopefully expediting will work and we’ll get it quickly enough for her to get a passport for our trip to Mexico in November.

Friday Food Log
Breakfast: yogurt and blueberries and Hard boiled egg
Lunch: roast beef sandwich on ww bread
Dinner: Sweet Tomatoes salad bar

Yesterday was a blow out day. I took Brendan and Charlotte up to the outlet malls to buy Charlotte her birthday present. We then went out to lunch, window shopped some more, then had ice cream at Fenton’s . We were then invited to dinner with Charlotte’s parents to celebrate Charlotte’s birthday at a Chinese restaurant then back to her house for red velvet cake. Oy!
Breakfast: slice of banana bread
Lunch: ¾ of a 7” pizza (low carb ultra thin crust)
Snack: Petite cup of chocolate marble ice cream (about 1 ¼ cups)
Dinner: Chinese food – hot & sour soup, fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, broccoli beef (minus the broccoli)
Dessert: ½” slice of red velvet cake

Can I say my body isn’t used to all that food in one day? I woke up early this morning with a stomach ache and feeling slightly nauseous.

So far today,

Breakfast: slice of ww toast with 1 tsp margarine
Snack: 4 oz of fruit smoothy
Lunch: slice of ww toast with apple butter & ginger ale (NOT diet)
Not quite sure how this is going to affect my weigh in tomorrow, the week was going SO well. This definitely shows me that I can’t just willy nilly eat whatever I want. Any one of those items by themselves wouldn’t have been bad, but pile them all together in one day and my body revolts.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.

Have a good Labor Day everyone!

Morning all!!! Inbox cleared and I am ready for numbers! I just looked for last weeks post and it went into no mans land here for some reason. I had like 3 or 4 do that last week and I know others that experienced the same. :confused3

Our Mod said she thought the reason she thought our name was **** out was it was the same number of letters for a bad word but she was going to have it fixed and voila...it is done! :cool1:

I can't weigh in till tom for WW since today is a Holiday but from my home scale it looks like I am down so I just have to hang on through today!!!

Hope all of you are well and had a great Holiday Weekend!!! :grouphug:

Good morning all! Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Amy- I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Any time you need a place to vent feel free! I know it's hard, but try to stay positive. Through this journey I've slowly come to realize if I can do this, I can do anything..you can too! I know you're going to get through this and come out the other side with flying colors! You'll be in our thoughts.

Busy few days here..I picked up envelopes Fri that are due Wed am. There were supposed to be 200 in a tray, I knew I could finish 3 trays easily. Famous last words, I got them home and realized all 3 trays had at least 275! So, I've been working my little fingers to the bone to get them done! Of course we had a movie and dinner planned on Saturday, and going to a minor league baseball game an hour away yesterday! We had a great time at both though, and it was so worth it.

As of this morning I am *drumroll please* -4.8. I was down 4 Sat morning, and a little bix anxious about dinner out, and dinner at the ball game, but it worked out.

Honey I am so sad but I am so glad you did go get it looked at. Please let us know if there is anything we can do or not do and just listen.
I apologize to Dawn for not responding the PM's that she sent out earlier in August. When I am healthy and ready, I hope to rejoin everyone on the path to skinny island!
This island is NOT just about weight loss. It is about the journey to get to the best you and the best you is even now through this struggle.

I will speak for others here and say we could care less if you loose, gain or maintain through this. We just want to support you and lift you up when you need it so please come here to rant and rave and give us the good the bad and the ugly. This thread wants you just as you are and just where you are.

There are more important things than being skinny to all of us and depending on the day or the hour, that weight loss mission fluctuates between 1 and 100 in our focus and dedication for a whole variety of reasons. You just have a very big one right now and good for you for putting priorities where they need to be. Not everyone is smart enough to do that. :thumbsup2

Amy - We will be here for you again - I'm glad you got in to the Dr. and are taking care of it! Whatever treatment you end up with, you will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery. And thanks for reminding us all how important it is to take care of ourselves.

WELL SAID!!!!!
I've been doing so-so food wise. Ate out a bit more this last week than usual. I tracked a couple days, and don't know where I put my notes! scraps of paper tend to disappear on me!
Do you have something you can use online like sparkpeople for ex? How bout making a one week commitment to it? I will do it with you cause I have been the same for the past 2 weeks. I have been walking a ton and doing ok food wise but I feel better in my head when I know for sure and don't rely on cloudy math for reassurance. Someday I might be there but someday is not here yet!

Also - do you think that some of you was really motivated for your trip and now that it is done, your mind has relaxed a bit?

I have been in that mode many a time. Mentally it takes up a lot of room to make the commitment to track and stay dedicated. A lot of self talk goes on when you want to make one choice vs another and might be tempted to say, I'll just eat it cause the process to walk away is harder on the brain.

Hope that makes any sense....

Keep us updated when you can, and know there's a group of people who you may have never met, but cares about you as if you are family. Here's a big  and good luck with everything!

Thank you for putting it exactly this way!!!!! :worship:

Amy: So sorry to hear about your health problems. We love you and are here for you whenever you need us. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Susan, great job on being down 13 pounds!! You're doing great!!

Jane: Sounds like you had quite the weekend. Hope some of it was fun. Feel better soon.

Amanda!! That's fantastic!! Your news was almost enough to take the wind out of my own sails for this morning...well, okay...not at all really!! I'm thrilled with my weigh in, even if it doesn't touch yours!! So happy for you! Way to go!!
:thumbsup2

I hope you don't mind, I'm using you as sort of a pacer...we started on the WISH thread at the same time, we have the same end goal in mind (well, 146 for you and 147 for me but who's going to quibble about one pound??) and though I started higher than you at 267 (although it was 261 here) our rate of weight loss has been somewhat comparable.

Today though...you blew me right out of the water!! :rotfl: You're going to be our next Patrick!! Good for you!!

However, I am pleased to report that I am down into the next 10's!! :woohoo:

I weighed in this morning at 229.0!! That's a loss of 3.7 for the week and 32 for the WISH total and 38 overall!!

And the reason I'm so excited is threefold:

I'm down to 28 daily points now (it's been 30 for a while now) which I :cheer2: about. (I know that makes me weird!!) I've been waiting impatiently for a drop in points and once I hit 239 it didn't drop me down like I thought it would, so this is HUGE!!:dance3:

And...

In past dieting attempts 227 (which was being down 40 pounds overall from my highest weight) was the beginning of my "comfort zone". 40 pounds felt like a good number to brag about (so I obnoxiously announced it to EVERYONE ) and when I looked in the mirror, I didn't see a fat chick anymore. I began to see myself as just pudgy.

AND NOW I'M ALMOST THERE!!!!:cloud9:

And...

My goal for today's weigh in was 229 point ANYTHING and I made it!! :worship: I thought for sure after last week's gain that I had to bid that achievement goodbye. But I made it after all! It's made me think that maybe I really CAN break the 200 barrier by the end of the year!! I've got to lose 30 pounds in 16 weeks to make it.

Heck, if I walk as much as Amanda does...it should be in the bag!!

:banana::yay::woohoo::cheer2:

GREAT JOB TO ALL THE LOSERS SO FAR THIS WEEK!! WE ROCK!!

Good morning everyone.

Happy Labor Day to everyone in the US.

I'm feeling a little better today. Still slightly queezy. I thought it was because of all the crappy food I ate on Saturday, but I should be feeling better today, so maybe its actually a flu thing. I don't know, but yesterday I just vegitated in front of the TV and took it easy. Ate a couple of crackers, toast and then some baked potato. So the weight that I showed today is probably not an accurate reading, but I can say that I was thrilled with a -4 loss for the week. It finally dropped me down below 190 and I'm  It will most likely go up tomorrow when I've had some normal food, but I'm determined to keep it under 190. The gym is closed today, but I'll be going tomorrow morning (I took the day off to extend the weekend and burn some PTO).

Today is Charlotte's actual birthday and we are going to spend it having a Disney Movie marathon (well, once they finally wake up:laughing:).

Have a fantastic day!!

I hope all of you are having a relaxing and fun Labor Day weekend. The weather finally cooled off a bit here and I spent most of yesterday doing yard work. Not exactly fun, but some parts of my yard is starting to look like a jungle.

I'm checking in at +0.6 lbs from last week's weight. So basically no change again... I think I'm really at the plateau phase, not gaining but not losing either. I haven't been doing anything different either, so maybe it's time to switch things up a bit? I don't know what else to do with my diet since it's already low carb and very healthy. So I guess the only other thing to do is to increase my exercise routine? Currently I'm going to gym about every other night, spending about 45-60 minutes on the elliptical. On the nights that I don't go to the gym, I often play badminton or go jogging with my brother. I rather doubt I have much more time to devote to exercising since school has started again and I'm back to work at my lab as well. I would like to drop about 10 more lbs and then just stay there forever! :cloud9:

This absolutely made me crack up when I read it, because I do exactly the same thing with you! LMAO! That's too funny..so yes, keep on doing it, and I'll do the same, it's obviously working out well for both of us!

Today though...you blew me right out of the water!! :rotfl: You're going to be our next Patrick!! Good for you!!

I wouldn't say I blew you out of the water! And ermm..I love Patrick, but I wouldn't ever try to fill his shoes..that boy exercised more than I do!

:banana::yay::woohoo::cheer2:

GREAT JOB TO ALL THE LOSERS SO FAR THIS WEEK!! WE ROCK!!

Julie- Those are awesome reasons to be excited! I bet you can lose the 30 lbs..That's an average of less than 2 lbs a week, and even if you go up a little one week, you usually make up for it the next. As for the walking, I'm convinced my exercise (burning 4000 cals a week now), and staying within my cal range EVERY day is what's doing it for me. I still do all the stuff I did before, I just save cals if I need to. I also find I usually overestimate while I'm out, even making good choices, than come home and log it to find that I still have 300-400 cals left for the day.

HOLY COW BATMAN!!!!!!! YOU ARE DOING SO GOOD!!!!!! I AM SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

Thank you, Dawn!

Jane- Sorry you're still feeling kinda crappy, but woohoo for the 4 lb loss! Have a great time with the movie marathon!

I'm down 2.9 as of this morning.

I think that means I get my palm tree back! :cheer2:

Was down more on Saturday but with TOM and tasty tacos happening yesterday I went back up a little.

But I'm ok with it!

First week back on WW seriously... and nearly 3 lbs? I'll TAKE it!

WOOO HOOOOO at Jane and Julie and Amanda!! YOWZER! Y'all kicked my butt!

Congrats to all the losers this week!! Extra special for those in the states dealing with Labor Day pitfalls! :thumbsup2

Okay - so my scale is toast and I got on the Wii Fit today to weigh in. Of course it's nice enough to tell me it's been 106 days since I visited! It's been two weeks since I weighed on my old scale and from that one to now on Wii Fit (with adjusting for clothes) I am down 6 pounds **
I have to *** it because I don't know how accurate that really is. I don't feel like I should be down based on my eating and lack of activity, but we'll see what happens next week. I may go buy a new scale and I'll do the Wii fit again next week either way so I have some continuity.
