When did DISboards start? Any old timers out there?

I have been a member since Oct 2001. Anyone else around from then?

I joined the boards to help me get a breakfast reservation in Cindy's castle. Back then you had to call right at 7am and it was the hardest thing to get. It was almost like winning the lottery! We would be a big group all calling for each other every morning just hoping one of us would get through.

1997 I believe. I have been around since 1998 (board software updates and crashes have meant that my registration date is from 1999) and it is quite amazing to see how this site has grown.

I found the DIS sometime in 1998 while planning an Oct. trip. I think it started in 1997. I was a member in 1998 but lost my start date and post count to the crash that happend that year during the updates. So, that it why it says 1999. It really is amazing to have seen all the changes through the years!

When I joined, my dd was 10 and I was planning our first WDW trip. Now she's 20 and is in college. At least she still goes to WDW with me every year.

I actually lurked for about a year before joining.

I was posting on the boards in 1997. It was a lot less convenient back then, had to click a lot to follow a thread and see all the replies but it was nice to have Pete respond to virtually every thread. I learned a lot before our first trip to Disney and I think it really helped us have a much better time than we would have without all the info.

Almost everyone you see with a join date of August 1999 has been here longer.

They switched software or something, and every member's join date became 10/99 and their post counts were reset to zero.

I've been around since early 2000. My join date changed to 2001 when there was an issue with the site. I think I lost over 1000 posts at that time too, but no big deal.

It was definitely way different back then! Much less drama, much less hysterics, much less But change happens, and the DIS boards are still here and we're all still loving Disney, and that's what counts!

<--------------------yep, another one. I remember there being the rumors, inspiration and community boards. There might have been more back then but those were the 3 I focused on. I was such a computer and message board newbie back then I didn't even know about making up a user name.

All I know is I felt like such a newbie when I finally joined 4/01...lol..I had been lurking since late 1999. I found the site thru Mousesavers. Back then there were these wonderful things called *codes* for the resorts, and Mary would have them

i've been around awhile, not as long as some though....I have known and met a few people IRL from the DIS whom I am still friends with today. I think I came on here to plan my DS (2 at the time) first trip. It really was one of the best trips we had, and he's now 10!

I have been here since 1997, when one of the few forums was the new Disney Cruise Line. As we had tickets to be on the 6th sailing in 1998, I was trying to find whatever information I could about the cruise! I lost a lot of posts in several board crashes, and I still do not post much. but I have certainly read and learned a lot over the years.
