When Conteporary VC or a new DVC opens........

I would buy right away(not thati am going to buy there) ..

I think buying early is a better thing then later there is alot to think about use year ect..

As far as guessing about cost I think it will be inline with AKV or 115 per point .

Hope this rumor pans out for the dreamers My AKV dream did

I think you'll see a wide array of categories for points values. Something like AKV. You'll have the preferred MK view, the water view, the standard view. Couple that with concierge and you can have a wide range with some steep points categories. I could see a Concierge, MK View studio be about 140pts/week during Choice season.

perhaps a premium for upper floors MK view also

I could see the cost per point around $115 with an incentive of $6 off, high annual dues due to the monorail, and the rooms having points similar to AKV (value, standard, preferred views) ;)

Just wish they would announce it or deny it. :upsidedow

My strategy for buying the Contemporary would be to stay there 2 or 3 nights then go over to the BWV for the rest of my stay. The CVR will only be good when I want to go to MK--- When we stay at the BWV its only a 5 minute boat ride or walk "home" after illuminations No crowds or waiting either. And its the same with DHS- except the walk is a little longer.

I like your strategy! Hadn't thought about a split stay like that.

i think AKV turned into a better deal if you waited a couple of months. don't know if that will happen with CRV or not...

$120 with an $8 incentive is probably the cheapest i would expect. i have no real idea, though...

This is off topic I know but what WAS AKV when it was first offered vs waiting a few months. How much better was the deal?

We plan the same-even if it's not DVC (it will be our weekend stay). Also by the way we would watch Illuminations at the bridge by France and then walk over to BCV bus stop (about the same distance and way less people) and go to the MK (since its always open later than Illuminations) and then either go into MK for a while or else walk or monorail to CRV.

Oh and I hope its around $105 per point.

Besides for selling out. Has the price ever increased after an offering?????? If not that would make the argument for waiting a little while at least before a purchase. Tapestry not withstanding.;)

In the case of AKV, sales began for existing members at $101 (minus incentives) and then opened at $104 for new buyers (minus incentives).

All prior resorts saw price increases after the initial offering. Some saw corresponding incentives, some did not. Even banking policies have changed for new purchases - at one time banking was NOT allowed for purchases past normal banking deadlines - recently, MS has allowed members to bank current points well beyond the deadlines after a purchase.

Hey Doc, so if there was a discount ever offered they were available right out of ther gate? Excluding Developer points? Thanks just trying to get a feel for what opening would look like, we will probably wait a little while in case they offer a 'deal'. They don't just raise the prices overnight, right???
Thanks for all the help,
Chris

PS-any word on the auto-notification on a new post front?

When OKW began sales, the incentive was that early buyers got free park passes thru the end of 1999. This was even carried thru to early buyers at VB - but ended before HH or BWV began sales.

After the park pass incentive ended there was a period when no incentives were offered. The next incentive I can recall was when DVC would "credit" a portion of a current stay towards a purchase. This was done in exchange for a comparable number of points in return and was later expanded to an incentive discounting the purchase price by $10 per point - in exchange for your first year's points from the contract. At that time, $10 per point quickly became the rental rate.

Over the years since then, some form of incentive has almost ALWAYS been in place - whether a cash discount, free APs, Developer Points or combinations of these.

I really don't think the point value will be that bad, considering that you only have access to 2 parks by monorail. The other parks & DTD are still far away. I don't think it will be any different from the BCV or the BWV Preferred View. maybe a little more, but The CV will only be awesome if you want to go to Epcot or the magic kingdom.

But when you want to come back to the Cont from Epcot is will be a long trip. Considering that after Illuminations, you have to walk through future world with the 85% of the people, wait for the monorail, get off and then back on at the TTC and go all the way around and stop at the poly, GF & MK before you get to Cont ( which is about a 10-15 minute ride-- granted that you are on the monorail, but that will get old in time too). When you add strollers and tired kids into the mix, well the Contemporary isn't that convenience since you have to get on and off again.

My strategy for buying the Contemporary would be to stay there 2 or 3 nights then go over to the BWV for the rest of my stay. The CVR will only be good when I want to go to MK--- When we stay at the BWV its only a 5 minute boat ride or walk "home" after illuminations No crowds or waiting either. ...and this is why I love Disneyland. :)
A little off topic, but how bad (ie high) do you think the points and buy in will be for GCV? :scared1:

Ditto. We're probably going to buy enough points to do 1 weeknight and 1 weekend night, MK view (if that's a category) in a 2 BR at CRV. We'll start our trip there for our first 2 nights, then move over to AKV. Not the most efficient use, probably, but the best plan for us. We're doing that first night or 2 on cash, right now.

Given the U.S. recessed economy, DVD might hold off an extra year or so before they announce CRV. Or perhaps they will offer it with a reduced price per point as an incentive to buy.

I'm going to break with the consensus here. Assuming sales start within 18 months and assuming the building is a DVC :thumbsup2 , then I'm going to guess a "rack" rate on the points in the range of 106 to 108. This is a hefty increase from the current 104.

When they started selling AKV, wasn't it (and currrently as well) the same "rack" rate? Both are at $104 right?, with slightly different incentives.

I saw on (day-before yesterday on this websight news release) that there was going to be DVC @ contemporary, Disney California and Hawaii,....which :confused3 Hawaiian island, city?

Depends on what you mean.

It was $101 ppt when it went on sale to members, ONLY. SSR was the same price (with a larger incentive).

When it went on sale to the public, the price per point also went up to $104 ppt, and SSR's price per point increased to the same number. AKV's incentive was $8 off per point, SSR's was $10 off per point.

I am new to this board, what are developers points? Any one have any info on the rooms they are going to offer? Studio, 1 Bed, 2 Bed, Suites?

Incentives we got. When we bought VWL, they bought first years points if you wanted and used for down payment. SSR was discounted at first. On DVC cruise in Oct. Buy 160 points you got $8 off AKV or $10 off SSR, plus either a vacation or 200 developer points which we took. We have Dec uy so we got 2006 and 2007 points.

I suspect by time they open CRV I think cost per point will be $110 to $120, Just a guess. I was surprised when SSR uses less points than VWL, BWV and BCV.

I wonder if the monorail will be much more than a boat or bus. Reason 3 hotels and TTC not one on line. I would think upkeep of station inside maybe more.

DVD really can't hold out very long. I don't see them finishing the 15 story building and letting it sit empty. They are planning on using it. Who knows what the economy will look like when the project is completed. I al don't think that DVC will need offer special pricing or incentives for CRV (if that ever becomes real). It would be more likely that they would offer some good incentives for remaining AKV and SSR points Just from the Dis alone, the demand for CRV points should be very high, and i am sure that DVC management is aware of that.
