When checking in for your ADR,

Do you just give the host/hostess your reservation number? Do you need to show ID? What about ADR's that have been prebooked on a Credit Card?
Just wondering if I can "take" an ADR from a friend of mine if they decide they don't want to use it. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I've always just had to give my name

I never had to show id or anything. I just told them my name and went in. However, I did keep all my reservation numbers in my bag just in case
