I found out about this right before my last cruise and it was wonderful!!! You call the 800# and have stateroom credit added to your account - DH was surprised and elated to already have a credit on our account!

Does anyone know when I can start doing this? Do I have to wait till the 60day mark?

I just thought if I did $25/week starting now - It would be a wonderful way to start the cruise!!!

Thanks!

Karen

As soon as you have a reservation number you can call.
I have been adding each time I can squirrel away some extra so it won't hit us quite as bad when we get home :)
I have already put some on our 2005 cruise.

Cheers,
Grumbo

But, how does that work? When you call do you give a CC #? and charge beforehand your stateroom credit?

Sounds like a great idea too, just wasn't sure how it would work!

Is this only for those who book through DCL or is it available to those of us who booked through a travel agent? I've been reading these boards faithfully for over a year and this is the first I've heard of this! Sounds cool!

:smooth:

What is the 800 number you call do to do this? Do you get some kind of confirmation for your deposit - I would hate to show up expecting money in my account and then have a problem.

Anyone else have experience doing this?

Thanks,
Tammy

We sailed on my birthday last May and my 18 year old DD did not know what to get me and then it hit her!!!! Credit aboard the Magic!!! She called the DCL reservation line and added $50 to hubby and my stateroom account. She did this all without me knowing and used her own credit card!!!!

It was a great birthday cruise and I thought a very appropriate gift...as she knew I love to shop onboard!!!

Is there a way to do this from the UK as we won't have the toll free number?

Does anyone know if I can do this if the reservation is in my dad's name and there are 3 staterooms? I'd like to have some money waiting for us--we went a little crazy last time  . I was also thinking if I used my debit card and sent $25 a week we would have a nice little "cruise nest egg".

Why not open a small savings account and make a deposit there each month? You might even be able to have it directly deposited. You can deposit it into your stateroom account when you check in.

The benefit: You'll net a small amount of interest income, and you'll maintain 100% control over your money. I do this myself: I have a small savings account at the State Employee's Credit Union, which I must maintain ($25 minimum) because I have a car loan through them. I put all my bonus checks there and save them for vacation "mad money" -- but I"m the one getting the interest, not Disney!

Of course, several people were looking at giving stateroom credit to someone else as a gift -- obviously, this is not a good choice for them.

Thanks for all the great replies - Sounds like I can get started!

Mrs Pete - I have thought of opening a savings account - I actually did this for our last cruise - Problem is, I would use the money when ever I felt I was in a pinch - And the interest rate nowadays does not make it worthwhile for me - I would rather pay now and know that I can not touch it no matter what!!!!

Now before I hear it........I do have savings and retirement funds - I am able to save money - It's just when it is in a "fun" account, I just hear the money screaming my name wanting to come out!

It worked like a charm. The CM was very helpful, asked how I wanted it worded ( To: who? From: who? and what message) when I explained it was my family going and it was really to me from me, she said I'm still going to put "to have a magical time" on here. How sweet! She said I could add $ anytime in $25 increments. I booked through Costco and have paid in full so even if you didn't book thru DCL the 800 # still works.

One more great tip from the good ol' Dis Boards! Love it!

Thanks..... again and again.

I called yesterday and had $200 shipboard credit added. I also explained to the cast memeber that it was for me from me. He said he was going to put it from Captain Mickey. Too cute!!
One month to go!!
