When can I borrow my 2012 points?

Hello,
I'm sure this is an obvious question but I know someone will be able to answer me quickly. My UR is June. So this June we will have 24 points coming to us (we borrowed most of our 2011 points last year for a big family trip). My question is do I have to wait until this June to borrow my points from 2012? Thanks so much for your help!

your UY has nothing to do as to when you can borrow points. It goes by when you reservation falls.

No, all points use is based on date of stay. With a June use year, if you look at your account online you should see 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013. So the 2012 points are already in your account. You can borrow them for a date of stay 6/1/11 or after, there is no waiting.

I will expand on this and my previous post. Your 2012 points could be borrowed at your home resort as early as calling MS on July 1, 2010 for a stay starting on June 1, 2011. Remember that it goes by the dates of stay.

If you are booking something like a cruise which you can book two years out, you can borrow points from 3 years out.

As someone said earlier borrowing depends on the date of the stay not when you make the reservation.

Thanks to the OP and everyone who responded to the question. When I asked MS this question a few months ago I was lead to believe that I had to wait until the beginning of my UY to use my 2012 points for a 2011 reservation. Now it may have been the way I asked or MS just made a mistake, but due to this thread I was able to upgrade my reservation without waiting to the beginning of my UY.
