When can I add a ticket to my app?

That's not very clear. I have an AP and have the DLR App. I bought DD's ticket on Undercover Tourist. When can I add her ticket to the app so that I can add Maxpass and pull FPs? Do I have to wait til her ticket is scanned at the gate, or can I add it before we leave for our trip in 6 days?

You can add her ticket to your account through the app at any time prior to your trip. You can also add MaxPass to her ticket prior to your trip. But like always you can’t pull FP until her ticket is scanned at the turnstiles. But you’ll be ahead of the game linking beforehand so you don’t have to spend time doing it in the park.

Not entirely correct.
You cannot add maxpass until you are in the park. It won’t let you buy it until it realizes the ticket is in the park. But yes you can add the ticket now! In fact I would! In case the ticket gets lost!

thanks so much! Yes, I knew I couldn't add Maxpass until we arrive but I wasn't sure if adding the ticket to my app would activate the ticket or anything. Thank you!

As far as I know, MP can only be added prior to a trip to tickets purchased through Disney, not through third party vendors. And, of course, MP cannot be activated for any ticket until you go through the gates.

This is great to know: I just purchased my e tickets through Disney so after I add them to my ap I can add MP to them. So does it add MP for all the days of my tickets or just adds it on as an option to be activated a day at a time when I go through the gates?

You should have been given the option to purchase MP with your tickets when you bought them through Disney. This option adds MP to all the days of your ticket. If you prepurchase through Disney, MP activates when you go through the gates. (At least, this is what happened with our tickets.) The only way to purchase MP one day at a time is to buy it through the app when you go through the gates each day. This option only takes a few minutes to do, so it isn't any sort of hassle.

This makes sense...it is how I did it before...adding it as we wanted one day at a time and sometimes not to all tickets. Thank you for the clarification.

I prefer this option of adding it one day at a time. The parks aren't always crowded enough to need MP. And for a group, if using paper FP is fine, saving $10 per person for a day or two during a visit can add up to a nice amount that can be spent on something special.

Thanks for clarifying. I had no idea pre-purchase was limited only to ticket purchases directly from Disney.
