I'm wondering who can fill me in on what the deals were like when BLT first started selling....prices, incentives, minimum add on...things like that.

I'm just wondering what the first deals on Hawaii will be and was wondering if they always start off selling with the same type deals.

The first incentives for BLT were not very spectacular. $5.00 off per point (selling price 112.00 per point) and if you were a DVC member purchasing at least 160 points (I think it was 160), you got your name on a tile on the founders fountain.
Not too much later, they did all of the above and they added developer incentive points. There was a cruise deal that came along last year around spring time I believe. Then--around APR or May or last year, they had much better incentives--under $100.00 per point with cash off incentives I can't remember the specifics, but I'm sure someone will post the details. (Sadly, I didn't get in on that deal).

VGC founding members were not offered the best incentives, either.

We attended a show here in Boston last Feb or March. I can't remember what the starting point was (maybe $112) but after incentives, we ended up paying $92/point for a 160 point contract (we bought 2 of them). We just got back from our first trip and spent 4 nights at BLT, 3 nights on the Wonder, then 3 nights at BCV and enjoyed every minute!

Can you tell me what show you went to that had this? Was it the travel expo that happens every year at the BaySide Expo?

Yep, $92 a point is what we got after the webcast last May. Of course for that you had to buy over 270 points.

Here's a copy of post Webmaster Doc regarding the price history of all of the DVC resorts.

DVC History from Webmaster Doc
February 21, 2010

Here is a history of DVC as compiled from past posts over the years. The prices noted are the published rates for direct purchase thru DVC. They do not include incentives and do not include resale prices. Please note that resale prices are subject to supply/demand as well as decreasing lifetime of the resorts - unless DVC decides to extend contracts. Even that is not a guarantee to raise or even support resale pricing since the difference in resale pricing at OKW does not reflect the additional cost of the extension. In some cases, the size of the resort may play a role and certainly location is also a factor.

Fall, 2009 -- Price increase to $120 for BLT and GCV purchases. Other incentives available.

We bought BLT in May 2009 160 points for $104 after an incentive discount ($112 without the incentive). And then added 50 points on in June 2009 for $104 per point. The incentives must have been better when you bought more than 50 points last summer, but I didn't keep the figures as I know people were buying points in upper $90s.

I think the show in Boston last year was at the Seaport Hotel. It definitely was not at the BaySide Expo. Good Luck!

The "show" was strictly a DVC promotional event. It was not held in conjunction with other vendors or promoters. Seems like it's been close to a year since DVC has held one of those events so it could be that they are backing off of them.

With recent offerings of AKV, BLT and VGC behind us, it's safe to say that the best pricing is NOT made available to early buyers. Like most vendors, DVC keeps the prices higher at launch to cash in on those rushing to buy. Unique emotional incentives like the AKV tapestry and BLT fountain tiles are offered to help encourage the early buys. But if you're most interested in price, wait a few months and the incentives are bound to improve.
