When at supermarket

When I'm in the check-out line, I look at the stuff the person in front of me is getting, and I see other people looking at the stuff in my cart, too. I think it's just natural curiosity.

I'm a cashier right now and one of the most interesting parts is when people tell you what they're making... some people are buying a million pounds of hotdogs for a church cookout and they invite you to it, or they're coming through with 5 different wedding magazines and they're so excited because they just got engaged... stuff like that.

Not judge or make fun of but I totally peek at other people's carts and try to guess what their lives are like or who they are. :)

I'm a very quiet nosy nellie so I look inside other people's carts and tell myself stories about the people pushing them.

I'm also very defensive. I'll occasionally blurt out to the cashier, as I'm checking out my cereal, bread, eggs, milk and butter, "I SWEAR my house is full of fruits and vegetables. I just went to the farmer's market! I spent tons of money there. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with the fruits and vegetables here. It's just that it's summer and I like to buy local. Not that your stuff isn't local. It's just that I'm cheap. Not that I'm saying your stuff is overpriced. I SWEAR I FEED MY KIDS LETTUCE."

Then they pepper spray me and call the police :guilty:

sometimes i wonder what in the world are they going to make with that stuff... sometimes i want to invited over for dinner.

i def. judge the people that pick up a bunch of bananas and then let their kids eat them while walking around the store. you pay by the lb, how are you going to pay for the eaten banana? (i KNOW they had no intentions of paying for it... and that really irritates me)

I am one of those people that will give my 2 yr old one to eat and I tell the cashier Every time that she ate one.

I honestly never look in anyone else's cart. And it annoys the heck out of me when someone comments on what I am buying as I put it on the belt. Once Advil was on sale, the box had a coupon on it and it was a great deal. We were buying quite a bit, stocking up. The person behind us was studying everything we were buying and commented "wow, you must get a lot of headaches!". MYOB!

"What Would You Do" on ABC had an episode a few weeks ago to see how other customers would react if someone was rude to an overweight customer based on the food choices that were in her cart.

They need to come to my Wal-mart. . .no one would pay their plant any attention. :rotfl:

:bitelip: "Yeah, usually right before the voices start telling me what to do!"

Judging people seems like it would take energy. I'm conserving mine.:)

I'm too busy worrying what others are thinking of MY purchases.

This is so like me! We go to two different grocery stores and one has much better, cheaper produce and the other has better meat. So it looks like we're vegan at one checkout and at the other we look like a caricature of the American diet!

Do you judge/think about/ make fun of people by what they are buying?

I try not to, but like everything else in life, it's very hard to not judge something the moment you see it. The instant you see something, you automatically get an impression of it.

Do I purposefully judge someone by what they have in their shopping cart? No. It just happens.

Ooohhh, what did you buy????????????? :rolleyes1

I arrange my items on the belt in categories. Meats, breads/cereals, snack foods etc. Well, my dirty-minded sister made me self-conscious when I put my bananas, cucumbers and zucchini together. She said people were staring at me. So now I make sure I mix things up so not to give a wrong impression.:upsidedow
