We start our Christmas decoration (many trees) after Halloween. We put the outside lights out before Thanksgiving and turn them on the first time on Thanksgiving night.
1st of december as well but i do tend to take it down news years day(if i'm not suffering that is)i know its early but i am normally fed up with it by then
Well heres the thing.............my family made a tradition going back a couple of generations that Father Christmas brings the xmas tree so I have followed tradition and do the same. (So Dec 24th) It is always a massive big REAL tree that has to be shaped to fit in the corner of the room so its as tall as the ceiling and stretches out from the wall about 5 feet. Needless to say it takes hours to decorate I would not change this for the world as this is what I am used to and it would not be the same if i could not smell the pine from the tree on xmas morning. We usually leave it up longer than everyone else as it goes up so late.
Oh no!! We are going to WDW for Christmas and new year. My consession this year is just putting 1 tree up instead of the usual 2! We will take the tree down before we go but leave the lights outside and the wreath up on the door until we get back. Plus I'll leave some of the things we hang on the mirror in the lounge up and the stuff we put on the mantle piece. I figured that way it at least looks like someone is in. Plus they won't take too long to get down once we are back. I'll probably put the decorations up early this year as we are celebrating Christmas as a family on the 10th December (DH and I are cooking for 12!!)
As soon as DH will let me, DD will love it up now, but will go up end of Nov, away on 3 dec. So we want the house ready for when we return, so all that is left is to wrap presents.
I didn't put one up last year as we went away on Dec 8th and got back on Jan 2nd - there did not seem to be any point! I couldn' think of anyhting more depressing than getting back from nearly 4 weeks in Florida to having to take down a tree as well
