When are the animals checked in the morning and not on the savannah at Kidani?

Last time we were at Kidani I remember a CM telling us that each animal goes into a barn of some sort to be checked out for an hour every morning and that is why the savannah is so empty in the mornings. My DD likes to say "goodbye" to the animals before we leave on check-out day so I was wondering if anyone knows the current schedule so we can plan around it. TIA!

If I remember, they start going in around 8:30. I remember going to the lunch with the animal keeper, where I learned which animals were called in by which sounds, and after that, I used to grab my morning coffee, sit on the porch and listen for the sounds. You might be able to get that information from one of the cultural reps outside on the first floor.

We did a tour in June that took you back stage to the barn area we were at the barns between 9:00 - 10:30. We were told the Cast members start with Pembe savanna and move some of the animals into the Pembe barn around 5:00 am. And simbasmom is right about the sounds used for calling specific species of animals. It takes about an hour and half to do each barn because they do not take all of the animals from a savanna into the barn at the same time. And not all cast members work all the barns. There four barns on the savannas, but I do not know which order they do each barn. One problem for viewing is that the animals themselves often will move themselves to be situated near the barn's entrance waiting for their turn.

What tour was that and is it still available? This will be our first stay without park tickets and I knew about the safari but would love additional info on anything else offered at Kidani or Jambo!!

Sense of Africa was the tour. It just started this summer. It is fairly expensive, $462.52 for two adults with a DVC discount of 20%. It does include breakfast at Boma at the regular buffet please food prepared just for your tour group. We feed giraffes and was able to stroke the shoulder of an okapi, we were supposed to feed another okapi but she refused to cooperate and hid from us, and made food enrichments items for Red River Hogs and fed Ostriches. We spent a lot of time with animals. And the keepers provided a lot of details of the daily routine. It was very interesting. https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...-africa-tour-at-disneys-animal-kingdom-lodge/
