When are "spring break" crowds the worst?

Several threads recently advised avoiding "spring break" to avoid the crowds, especially if staying offsite. When exactly is this? We'd like to plan a springtime visit. Are the crowds at the Universal parks the worst, mainly before/after Easter or for a 6-8 week span?

How are the months of March & April overall? In 2008, Easter Sunday is March 23.

Thanks for your thoughts. :)

I would like to know too! Our spring break in upstate NY is 2 weeks after and everyone else (April 11-18, 2008)

Winter/Spring Break seems to go from mid-February to the end of April, with most of the colleges having their break in March. I've been in April several different times (1st week, 3rd week and 4th week) and it was always crowded.

president's day weekend (mid february) is very busy. after president's day thru mid march isn't too bad, its towards the end of march (approximately) and most of april that it is extremely crowded. the exception is the last week of april when things are slow to moderate again.

The two busiest weeks are the ones either side of Easter.

The union employees at my husband's job may strike this summer, so he probably will not get a vacation summer of 2008. We're thinking about going to Universal for the first time during our kid's spring break. It's the week after Easter. We'll stay on site. Wondering how long the lines will be.

Thanks,
Teresa

Our spring break is week after Easter this year. I just found out about a conference in Orlando that I am going to try to go to. We may just turn it into a mini family weekend. I would have had to fly down on Thursday, March 27 to get there in time for the conference on Friday. I thought we would just go ahead and fly down on Wednesday and hubby and the kids can stay through Sunday and then I will come back on Tuesday when the conference is over. My flight paid for, our nights (all but one) could be paid for at any of the Universal hotels, I would get some money for meals and we could get those great $85.99 tickets for our stay. I think it would be a great mini vacation. Our last 3 trips to Orlando, we have stayed exclusively at Disney (we are DVC), so this would be nice to stay at Universal and have front of line access. I just wonder how crowded it would be. If my husband can't go, I wonder if my 17 yo and 14 yo could hang out together at the parks while I am in meetings.

Can't wait to ask my boss next week if I can go. Woohoo, let the planning begin.

I've noticed that the week leading up to Easter seems to be busier, IMO.
