November. 1 & 2, 2016 at 8 p.m., the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company will perform at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. The incredible Dance Theatre of Harlem Company tours nationally and internationally with an eclectic ballet repertoire. November 2, 9, 13 & 16: The Coastal Discovery Museum will have Dolphin Research Excursions on the May River every Wednesday, September-November, and the second Saturday each month from 10 a.m.-noon.

The Dolphin Research Excursion will study acoustic communications between resident dolphins in the May River. While researchers from Dr. Eric Montie's Lab at the University of South Carolina Beaufort visually identify and record dolphin vocalizations, marine biologist Captain Amber Kuehn will share what we have learned about these fascinating cetaceans. The research goals are to determine abundance, location, and individual identification of dolphins in the vicinity of Montie's acoustic recorders that are deployed at three stations in the May River.

Dolphins are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act made in 1972. Dr. Montie has a permit from the National Marine Fisheries Service, NOAA, and United States Department of Commerce to perform this research with bottlenose dolphins in the May River.

November 2: The Coastal Discovery Museum, located at 70 Honey Horn Dr., will host Sea Turtles, By Land and Sea on Nov. 2, 3016 at 3 p.m. This program will take a close look at the offshore sea turtle research conducted by the SCDNR and provide an update on sea turtle monitoring in South Carolina and the south Atlantic, looking at beach nesting efforts and offshore research efforts by SCDNR. Dr. Al Segars, a veterinarian with the SCDNR, who has a long career studying the endangered and threatened species on our coast will be the presenter. $7 per person. November 3: Kick off your Hilton Head Concours weekend at the Vintage Auto Film Exhibition on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 at Coligny Theatre, 1 N. Forest Beach Dr. #I-5.

Celebrating cinematic stories of automotive culture and heritage with two and half hours of high-octane, BIG-SCREEN nostalgia featuring "Climb Dance," "The Red Grifo" and "Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman." The reception featuring a meet and greet and seating will commence at 6:15 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. and a Q&A following the films at 9:05 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance. November 4-5: The Daufuskie Island Rum Company will present the Daufuskie Island Rum and Strum Music Festival Nov. 4-5, 2016. Featuring great food and drinks to enjoy while six local bands perform from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and noon-8 p.m. on Saturday. Onsite camping is also available.

November 5: Come out to South Beach Marina Village in The Sea Pins Resort and experience a Lowcountry take on a classic New England tradition with the Salty Dog New England Clambake on Nov. 5, 2016. This fun fall event will feature live music, kids entertainment and more. November 8: "The Gullah People and Culture" will be presented at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2016 as a part of the Tuesday Morning History Program at The Heritage Library.

Learn how the Gullah people were brought to Hilton Head Island as slaves, how their culture has survived, flourished and what is being done today to save that culture and preserve it for future generations.

November 9: The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island will host Rex Garniewicz on Nov. 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. for this the Natural History and Archaeology of Beer program. Beer is the foundation of civilized life as we know it. Beginning 10,000 years ago, brewing led to the development of agriculture, settled life and a myriad of other inventions. This presentation will take you from ancient Mesopotamia, China and Egypt to the jungles of the Amazon to learn some of the science behind how beer is made and to see how it has impacted our lives in ways we likely never think about. You will view this beverage in a new light by the end of the lecture, even if beer isn't your thing!

Rex is the CEO and President of the Coastal Discovery Museum and an archaeologist by training. His PhD dissertation looked at the environmental effects of prehistoric agriculture in the Eastern United States. He curated an exhibition titled "BEERology" at the San Diego Museum of Man and is currently curating a traveling exhibition of Beer for the Smithsonian Institution. As you might imagine, Rex is avid home brewer, and on occasion drinks a beer or two.

November 10: David Yurman Charity Event at Forsythe Jewelers in The Shops at Sea Pines Center. Preview a special collection of David Yurman designs brought in from New York especially for this event. November 11- 13: Get ready to shuck and slurp at the Oyster Festival, Nov. 11-13, 2016 at Shelter Cove Community Park. Not only will there be buckets of oysters available at this annual festival but also a variety of stewed, steamed and fried oysters. No worries for those who aren't fond of seafood; there will be a variety of non-seafood options, like hot dogs, available as well as marshmallows and a fire for roasting.

A special sports lounge will be set up for fall football fans, a kid zone with bounce houses and other activities for children to enjoy and a stage with live entertainment. November 11: Join the Sea Pines Forest Preserve Foundation for the 6th Annual Bonfire Fundraiser on Friday, Nov.11, 2016 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. The evening will include cocktails, a Lowcountry-inspired menu, live music and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit capital replacement projects throughout the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. November 15: Sea Pines 1950 to 1983" will be presented at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, 2016 as a part of the Tuesday Morning History Program at The Heritage Library. November 19: Head over to Caretta Coffee Co. in Coligny Plaza for Art on the Corner from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Saturday to discover artwork by local artists. Each week Caretta Coffee Co. will feature a different artist, who will showcase their work out on the patio. Guests can enjoy a beer in their beer garden, wine on the terrace or stop by for some coffee or lunch and buy amazing artwork.

Proceeds will go to the Coastal Discovery Museum and support the Savannah Veterans Center. November 19 - December 31: A Hilton Head Island holiday tradition for over 20 years, the Dove Street Festival of Lights returns to the Shelter Cove Towne Centre for the 2015 holiday season with over 70,000 lights for the 2016 holiday season! Park your car, stroll through the lights and falling snow (bubbles), all while enjoying nightly holiday entertainment, shopping, dining and much more from 6-10 p.m.

Presented by Kroger, Belk and the merchants of Shelter Cove Towne Centre, the Dove Street Festival of Lights will run from Nov. 19, 2016-Dec. 31, 2016 and will be open to the public nightly from 6 to 10 p.m. The Deep Well Project, PEP (Programs for Exceptional People) and Island Rec Center will be accepting donations on site.

Harbour Town is the perfect place for families to be this holiday season with live entertainment and activities. The official tree lighting will take place just prior to the Gregg Russell concert on Friday, November 25 at 7:30 p.m.
