When and how to make room requests?

We are 60 days out today, and will be staying at CBR - standard. I originally planned to ask for a room on the second floor in Jamaica 45, but with the bridge/island construction, I'm thinking somewhere in Barbados. My dad has some ankle issues, so every step I can save him is good. So I have several questions. First, which building in Barbados should i ask for if I want the closest to OPR, etc? Second, are there elevators or ramps? We'd like to do a second floor room, but we rented an ECV for my dad, so will we have to do first floor? Also, when and how is the most effective way to make a room request?

You can make room requests when doing online check in. That's the best bet right now, but you can also choose to call in your request or fax it in like you used to be able to. Please note though, if you do more than just one of the three, they may conflict and the CMs assigning won't know which request "trumps" another. We used online check in and got our preference: adjoining rooms on ground floor. Although we specified an example area, we didn't get it, but did get adjoining rooms on a ground floor.

I just got back from 9 days at CBR. We stayed in Barbados building 13. We were happy with our location. Only 4-5 min walk to OPR and 13 is situated between the bus stop and quiet pool. There are no elevators or ramps to the second floor. If your dad is using an ECV, you will need first floor. You can make requests when you do online check in but I would call about a week before as well. You can only make generic requests in online check in such as which village or ground floor. To request a specific building, you have to call. If you are going for Barbados, I would request that in online check in as well as ground floor. Then call about a week before and make your requests for specific buildings. Buildings 13,14, and 15 are closest to OPR. I would mention the use of an ECV to increase your chances of getting ground floor. Ground floor is a popular request.

No one way of making requests is better than another. No matter how you get the info to them, it's just populating a field in your reservation record.

Silly question but we don't have a Fax machine, is there another way to request with out phoning like email?

I made my requests via online check in and got both things I asked for at WL last week:

early check in (11am) and also highest floor available (6th floor)
