When and how - the big prizes?

Considering the YOAMD promotion is for quite a while how and when do you think they will give away the bigger prizes? DVC memberships, etc. Will this be a random park thing or mailing in entries?

Have they given away any large prizes yet?

I know when I was there last week they gave away the Magic Kingdom to yourself for the day to a family and they got in early and they got to do everything before the park opened. I saw them on the news in the Hotel room that night.

From what I've read, the Dream Squad CM's don't even know what prizes they are awarding until they get in their assigned locations/times, so they could be awarded any time, any place, or to an online or mail-in entry.

wow!!

1) As I understand it, the biggies are from the drawings.
2) The smaller stuff is issued by the CM's.
3) The CM stuff is awarded under strict guidelines and procedures.
4) But, there is a chance of people complaining if CM's gave away biggies.
5) So, the biggies are to be as a result of drawings.

Can someone confirm what RustyScupper said about the biggie prizes to be awarded thru drawings?

I had read a CM post earlier that the CM would not know what award (if one of the larger ones) was being given and they were to take the guest to guest services where the prize would be told.

This is the correct information... TheRustyScupper was misinformed. Even the big prizes will be given out by the Dream Squad. They can happen anytime anyplace. Basically they get an envelope that says open at this time. When they open it inside it will have a print out that says give this out at this time at this location. Now that print out could say give 100 dream ears to the guests that are boarding Buzz at 1:35pm, or it could say pull from mail in entries received on 10-15 and award this or that. ALL prizes can be delivered anywhere at anytime. If the big ones are being awarded they will know that it is a Big one, but they will not know what it is... as mentioned they will get the envelope that says this time at this location, and bring the guest back to Guest Relations where the actual prize will be announced, but they most certainly CAN be awarded in the parks or Downtown Disney at any time. Also keep in mind that the prizes listed are for WDW and DL, so there is the potential that all 3 DVC memberships could be awarded at DL, or there could be 2 at WDW and 1 at DL... It is totally random, so there is no way of telling when or where.

I don't believe #1 and #5 are correct, hehe. #2-4 sounds right though. ;)

From what I understand, the CM's open the envelope, and either give out the "smaller stuff" on the spot (lanyards, fastpasses), but if it is a "bigger" prize they have to bring the person to guest services. This is because, as you pointed out, they were afraid of riots if one family got told in front of everyone they are going to stay in Cindy's, or whatever.

When they open the envelope, they are either told what small prize to give out or that they need to return to guest services - they won't even know what the prize is! That sounds like fun for everyone, LOL, CM's included.

It can be given out in all 4 parks, the water parks, Downtown Disney or through the postcard mail in.

That's exciting. I was hoping it would be all 4, as we're just two adults, we spend most of our time in Epcot. :)

Winning one of those cruises would be amazing...

Online Entries were mentioned. Clarification, please.

Where are you getting your postcards.

I would like to know where to get a postcard too. How do you enter the drawings? Thanks

They are also being given out at the hotels as well... Disney Quest is doing them too.. won one there the first day they did it. I was the first winner... it was getting pulled off the line for the Pirates. We were a party of 3. We got to by pass the line, put on Pirate hats & go into the attraction. When we got out, they took a photo of us & gave it to us along with a little "certificate".. I know it wasn't much, but it was the surprise of it that made it worth it. :thumbsup2 Now if I can just win the night in the castle... :teeth:

That is cool, but I just wanted to point out, so there is not any confusion... That is a "Magical Moment" which can happen anywhere, that is not a Year of a Million Dreams prize. The Prizes which are listed on Disney.com that are associated with the actual Sweepstakes (ie: the Dream Lanyards, Dream Hats, Dream Fastpass, night in the castle, trips, etc...) are ONLY issued by the Dream Squad (or through the mail in entries) and are only being issued at the four parks, the water parks, Downtown Disney (in common areas only) and through the mail in...

Here is the info on the mail in entries...

Also, starting on September 18, 2006, eligible participants can enter without being present in a Disney Property by writing their full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), and date of birth on a 3"x5" postcard and sending it with proper postage affixed to: (i) if a legal resident of the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada or Mexico: P.O. Box 8629, Elmhurst, IL 60126; or (ii) if a legal resident of the United Kingdom: Disney Dream Giveaway, 483 Green Lanes, London N13 4BS. Participants may enter once per day during the Giveaway Period. All mail-in entries must be mailed separately, postmarked by December 31, 2007 and received by January 14, 2008 or they will be void.

Just so you know, the mail in entries are eligible for the "souviner prizes" such as the hats, pins/lanyards and the big trips like the Cruises and the world tours, etc. They are not eligible for the same day prizes like the castle suite, MNSSHP, Party of the Senses, etc. in the event that a mail in card wins a "same day prize" an alternate prize will be given.

Also wanted to point out that people are getting Magic Moments confused with the Year of a Million Dreams Prize sweepstakes. This is a magical moment, kinda like riding in the front of the monorail, or being the guest captain on the Riverboat. These things can happen anywhere and are things that have always happened at WDW. They are not a part of the Sweepstakes but are really cool events that are going on as well so be on the look out for these little touches as well. As I mentioned before, the sweepstakes prizes can be won at the 4 parks, the water parks, Downtown Disney (but only in public areas, so that you do have to be in a park to win) and through the mail in.

I cut and pasted the following from another message board:

I am on the Inaugural Dream Squad team.

The Dream Squad has 2 main functions. These are as follows.

Dream Greeter
Prize Fulfillment

We perform these in the following costume.
Tan pants and blue button down shirts. We wear a white vest when we are in Prize Fulfillment mode.

Dream Greeter
Most of our time is spent in this role. We are assigned areas where we walk around talking to guests and cast making sure they are having a good time and attempt to settle or make better any guest or cast issues.

Prize Fulfillment
We perform this role once a twice a week and are scheduled for the whole day. This is the area that most of the discussions are about. We have no choice in what, when or where we do this. In order to keep this sweepstakes legal, we have an outside agency supplying this information to us. We can't open the envelope containing this information until just before the prize is to be distributed. We then go to the location, await the exact time (with syncronized time pieces) and award the prize as stated.

When we prize fulfill we only know what the Low Tier Bulk prizes are. These are the Dream Fast Passes, Dream Ears, Dream Lanyards and such. The Mid Level and High Level prizes are not even known to us until we take the potential winner back to Guest Relations.

In order to keep things fair and legal, the prize fulfillment portion is even kept secret among ourselves. When we are in this mode, we dont tell each other or even our leadership where we are going, when we are going or what we are giving.

All 4 parks, water parks and even Downtown Disney are included as prize fulfilling areas. I cannot give the actual areas that we deliver the prizes, but I can say that all guest areas are potential places for awarding within the above areas.

There are CMs making "magical moments" happen at times but that's different than the prize fulling. We have even found out just recently that they are going to grant some wishes to the CM not the same as what is being given to the public but things like limosin rides to work and we do get a chance at the castle night. Anyways I hope that while you're here you maybe get a chance at one of the wishes. Just remember," Dreams Do Come True".
