We are taking our mother (75) and wanted to know where we rent wheelchairs. She will need it in the parks, not on the buses, etc. I would like to rent a wheelchair in the park. Is this possible? Cost?

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Especially check out Post #2, which deals with mobility and/or stamina issues. It gives information on both wheelchair and ECV rental, both from Disney and off-site locations.

And depending on where you are staying, you may really need an off-site rental as distances between bus stops and rooms at the Resorts may be very long.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

Cheshire Figment is correct, but not only are the distances at the resorts and to the buses long distances, but there is also the fact that with an wheel chair/ECV she'll be the first one on the buses, so will always be guaranteed a seat, whereas without a wheelchair/ECV she'll have to stand in the long bus lines waiting with the crowds and then may have to stand on a moving bus. People don't necessarily offer the elderly their seats.

We always rent an ECV for my mom offsite, so she will have it for around the resort and the buses and have always used Walkers Mobility. She's 77 y/o and prefers the independence that an ECV gives her (rather than a wheelchair).

I have never rented one from Disney, but I have heard some of my family and others say that they are a little over priced and are not very comfortable. The people who all have told me this said that for a very small mount more that the rental price at the parks they rented off site and got a great chair that they could use anywhere they wanted to. I just thought I'd throw that out there for you. But, if you still decide to rent in the parks, they have them at all the parks, they are first come first serve so try to get to them early.
